I had my Dad and Uncle both do the tests since then both have passed.
Dad did on ancestry back in 2008, they then changed the testing company and I couldn¡¯t do any further testing on his sample...nor did they convert it to the database they use for determining matches for family members.
Uncle did later after Dad passed but did that on 23andMe. ?Uncle and Dad had same biological parents. ?Uncle passed a couple of years ago.
My guess on my John¡¯s father would be Isaac Mertz, who was sheriff at Swineford , PA.?
But have more looking to do to confirm that. ?German¡¯s seemed to like to use the name John/Johann a lot!!

?Mary,
As far as I know there is only one company testing yDNA and that is FamilyTreeDNA, although 23&ME does indicate the yDNA haplogroup according to my son in law's test results. If you had the testing done with another company, then you are probably out of luck unless there is another male, a brother or cousin that can be tested.?
