Re: Introduction

Hi Aaron and Dona,

I would be equally interested in participating in a support group or a mentor/mentee relationship. I only graduated a few years ago and would appreciate regular access to a more experienced O&M. Maybe if there is general interest I could take the lead on coordinating something via this listserv.?

Also, Aaron - are you part of the EVE listserv via WA State School for the Blind ()? They often post jobs in the PNW and I believe?they may be attempting to offer mentor's via their outreach department.?

Best of luck,?

Hi Aaron - welcome to the group!? You wanted to set up a support group - are you thinking maybe of folks willing to serve as mentors?? That sounds like a GREAT idea!

Maybe folks from this listserv can volunteer.? I sure would enjoy being a mentor for your O&M part, I have no experience as a TVI.

Does OMSA or the O&M Division of AER have a mentorship program?? The O&M Division used to have one, and our AER chapter here in Maryland did, don¡¯t know if they¡¯re still set up to connect mentors and newbies together.

Hello everyone!
?
My name is Aaron McCool. I am currently in the graduate program at Portland State University in TVI and O&M. I wanted to start getting involved in the group early though and start putting together some best practices and a support group. I have a Masters of Education, but I am getting certified in SPED/TVI/O&M. I live in the Portland, Oregon area in the United States (Northwest US).?

Also, if anyone is looking for a TVI, I am not licensed yet, but am working toward it. Feel free to contact me with any advice or leads. Thank you!
