Hi Jack and Gilbert!? Gilbert, the program costs only $25, so it
should be feasible for you to acquire.? See
?
And Jack, WOW!? I assumed you were planning to mail it or deliver it
to your student to install himself ¨C you¡¯re right, the program can NOT be
installed over the internet!? APH tried to do that when there was such a
demand, and there are just toooo many videos and recordings for that to be
possible.
?
So I¡¯m glad you decided to run it from your computer, because you had no
choice!

Thanks for your quick response!? I really appreciate it.?
I think that I will probably go ahead with running it from my computer.? I
also found that it takes quite a lot of space on the computer (14 GB!!!) so
installing it over the net would take....a while.?

Jack, that was my first idea ¨C why not?? I was told that teachers
were not allowed to send anything to their students, so that¡¯s when I went for
alternatives.

The disadvantages are that the student will have to figure out how to
present the next trial, etc., and the record of his progress will be in his
computer, not yours ¨C those records would be nice to have as you plan the next
lesson.? And I would strongly recommend that you yourself skim through
the program and become familiar with it before using it to help you teach the
student.
?
Given those disadvantages, I would probably still use it on my own
computer rather than the student¡¯s.? I didn¡¯t find the half-second lag to
be a problem except when comparing street-crossing time with warning times,
and it was easily solved by telling the computer the crossing time was a
second longer (it can¡¯t deal in half-second increments or I would have told it
the crossing time was a half-second longer).

Dona--
?
I just got the crossings with no traffic control software (usb
only).? I know that you did your demonstration with the software
installed on your computer and the student "driving" the software via
teamviewer.? Do you think there would be any advantages or disadvantages
to installing the software on the student's machine instead?? At the
present time I will only be using it with one student.? Installing on the
student's computer would reduce the lag time issues for the student hearing
the sounds and the signal from the student's computer getting back to my
computer, but I suspect there might be disadvantages that I'm not
seeing.? What are your thoughts?
?
I'm also sending this to the O&M list because I suspect that others
might have the same question.?
