Re: eclipse

I planned on driving to Granby as soon as we saw the forecast in the morning.? ?Unfortunately we had to "heard the cats" (two teenagers) so we did not leave until 11 am.? ?The trafik was heavy with long delays around Montreal.? ?Looked like there were a lot of people heading East, not sure if eclipse related or just "normal".? ? We got delayed to the point that we decided to pull along the Hwy 112 about 18 km before Granby at 15:00.? We run out of time to get clear of the clouds but the conditions were quite good.? We had very few very diffuse high level cirrus clouds.? The corona was much bigger than I expected and we saw seven? prominences.? ?I made a mistake of telling the kids to grab their cameras but they failed to study and practice as instructed and make notes for the settings so I wasted time trying to do it quickly for them with little time left.? I was hoping to get to a spot with 3 minutes and 10 seconds of totality but where we had to settle for we got 2 minutes and 49 seconds so I run out of time to do my planned 7-9 sot bracketed sequence.? But I did have time for the prominences and the diamond? ring and a few three shot brackets.? ?

Told the kids to snap some pics with their phones and forget the camera and just enjoy the show.? ?I did the same in the end. The kids and adults were thrilled and that is what it was all about. :).

P.S.
I hope to see some pictures here from others in the coming days.? ?The picture will show the clouds we had.
