So, I've been looking into purchasing a large dob to replace my old C-11.? Part of that has been thinking of what to do with my current scope, a C8 on one of those old wobbly wedge pods.? I was thinking maybe I could dabble in astrophtography, but that would require a significant investment in a new mount.?? I happened to look into lucky imaging techniques, as I thought I might be able to get away with that on the old wobbly mount.? I discovered that I have all I need to start right now.? I had a barlow with a T thread and a T ring for my Canon T4i.? I run Magic Lantern on the T4i so I'm able to access movie crop mode (1:1 pixel ratio) and RAW video.? I am familiar with post processing software from my previous dabbling into landscape and portrait photography.? So, just to see what I was up against I spent last night shooting videos of Jupiter, Saturn and a little of Mars.? The seeing was below average, I think, but I'm actually fairly pleased with my initial results.? I've still a lot to learn, but I'm happy to report I've got the basics down at least.?
