I was out for two hours closer to dawn (with a couple of breaks) and saw 70 meteors in 85 minutes.? Most of the Geminids were mag 2 and better, the sporadics were mostly fainter ~mag 4.? I saw one point meteor.? I've been dubious of point meteor reports in the past (I think they are mostly fast satellite flashes) but this one was mag -3, had exactly the typical brightness increase and decrease over 3s of a real meteor, and was located exactly on the radiant.? One 3 minute period had eight mag 1 or better meteors including two mag 0 meteors in the sky at the same time moving in opposite directions.? Excellent!

The radiant is quite high now. And it's clear. (How unlikely). The
metors are quite bright. Easily visible from my light-polluted sky in
west ottawa.
The transparency is forecast to get worse around 1am, so get your
meteor ooohs and aaaahs in now.
