As for buying a used telelscope, it takes a lot of knowledge to evaluate a used telescope. Unless you have an experienced friend to help you, I suggest not buying used. Instead, I suggest joining the Ottawa Centre of the Royal Astronomical Society because they have a telescope lending library. They have several small telesclopes, of different types, that they rent to members for $10 a month. That's the cheapest way to try out several telescopes so see what you like. If covid ever ends and local clubs resume public star parties (our word for inviting the public to look through our telescopes), I suggest attending such and looking through every scope to help you decide what you want. There are many kinds of telescope and one telescope cannot do it all. And the price range is crazy from CAD$10.00 to US$150,000.00. That that's just the ones I could order from canada over the web. attilla danko, , danko@..., attilladanko@... ps. Too bad about Focus. I hope Tristan lands in a good place. He was always helpful and respectful to his customers. I've heard that the bankrupcy of Focus was triggered by the onwer's (Kent's) dementia. But consider that to be an unverfied rumour.
