Rally for Action in D.C. on December 11
??
The Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) has organized a rally on?Wednesday, December 11th, at 11:30 AM?(EST) with key stakeholders and presidents from numerous influential organizations. Some of the groups attending are the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP),?California Retired Teachers Association (CalRTA),?International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF), American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME), American Federation of Teachers (AFT), National Education Association (NEA), AFL-CIO, National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association (NARFE), and more, will come together in Washington, D.C., for a rally that promises to make a strong statement to the Senators.?
?
This united front sends a clear message:?The time to act is now.
?
The rally will feature remarks from Senator Sherrod Brown, a steadfast advocate for our cause. Following his speech, participants will visit Senate offices to engage directly with lawmakers and their staff. The ultimate goal is to push Majority Leader Chuck Schumer to schedule the critical floor vote necessary for progress.
?
This moment demands action not only from those attending the rally but also from our membership.??I urge you to participate in the?daily alerts?and amplify our message by taking action?multiple times each day. Every email, call, or outreach effort contributes to building the momentum we need.? This is a significant opportunity to show the strength of our collective voice. Let’s make it count.

SUGGESTED MESSAGE (if needed to copy and paste)

SUBJECT LINE:? Please Bring H.R. 82 to a Vote in the Senate

Dear Senator,

We are writing to insist that you schedule a floor vote for the passage of H.R. 82, the Social Security Fairness Act. The American people have spoken, and the House of Representatives passed this critical legislation with a historic, bipartisan 327-vote majority.

This overwhelming support underscores the urgent need to rectify the unfair penalties imposed by the Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP) and the Government Pension Offset (GPO), which continue to harm millions of hardworking public servants. The time to act is now.

We need your leadership to ensure that H.R. 82 moves forward to become law. Delaying action on this issue perpetuates inequities that the American people—and your colleagues in Congress—have already recognized as unjust.

This is an opportunity to stand with the American people and fulfill a promise to those who have dedicated their lives to public service. Please act NOW?to schedule the floor vote and advance this vital legislation.

Thank you

?
SIDENOTE - The message is now saying H.R. 82 instead of S. 597 because the House acted first (and we're running out of time). Originally a bill was introduced in both the House and Senate to get the issue formally recognized and on record. But, now that the House has sent over its bill to the Senate, the Senate needs to vote on that bill (H.R. 82).?
?

STEP 2 - Contact YOUR senators

Call or email your senators and ask them to support passage of The Social Security Fairness Act and encourage other senators to cosponsor. California's Senators are linked below and the general Senate link if you're outside of California. NOTE - You need to use the Contact or Message button on their webpage.
