Mother's Day weekend is a wonderful time set aside to honor our mothers.
Mothers certainly deserve a special day of recognition for all the selfless acts of affection and service they provide for their families.
I also recognize that Mother's Day can be a difficult day for many people.
There are some women who wanted very much to become mothers but they could not. There are some who have lost children, suffered miscarriage, or have a wayward child who has broken their hearts.
There are also children who had absent mothers or mothers with serious problems. And then there are those whose mothers have passed away and they can no longer enjoy a visit or conversation with them.
In all of these instances, there is an undeniable pain associated with this weekend. Your thoughtfulness towards them can help soothe wounds that take years to heal.
During this holiday, it is important express love and affirmation to the mothers and mother-figures in your life. Show kindness to those who have been there for you.
Perhaps you have received special attention from an aunt, neighbor, or family friend. Now is a great time to recognize them with a call, card, or gift.
