s/s : ??︵? HILMAKILNT 1862 ??︵?
In the summer of 1986, a Swedish farmer stumbled upon something extraordinary in his abandoned country house—a dusty basement filled with large wooden crates. When he opened them, he was stunned to find 1,200 paintings, many of them featuring bold geometric shapes in vibrant colors. Unsure of their significance, he called a neighbor, but even this person couldn't comprehend the discovery. Eventually, a museum curator confirmed that the paintings were by Hilma af Klint, a Swedish artist who had created these works decades earlier. What made the discovery even more remarkable was that these abstract paintings predated the work of famous abstract artists like Kandinsky, Malevitch, and Mondrian, making Hilma a true pioneer in the field of abstract art. Hilma Klint, born in 1862, was deeply influenced by her upbringing. Her father, a mathematician, had a large library, where she developed an early interest in geometry and art . After attending the Swedish Academy of Fine Arts, Hilma became a successful portrait and landscape painter, But her true passion lay in exploring the spiritual and abstract realms. Inspired by the scientific breakthroughs of her time and the spiritualism movement, Hilma began experimenting with abstract forms, creating works that were guided by what She believed were energies from alternate dimensions. She kept these works secret, Fearing they would ruin her reputation as a serious artist, leading her to live a double life as Both a conventional artist and a creator of groundbreaking abstract art. Hilma’s decision to keep her abstract works hidden from the public was a mystery, but she made it clear in her will that her paintings should not be opened D until 20 years after her death. She may have believed that the world wasn't ready for her avant-garde vision, or that her work was too personal to share. Unfortunately, her grandson, the heir to her art, passed away before the paintings could be revealed, leaving the works hidden for many years until their Discovery in 1986. By then, the world of art had fully embraced abstract movements, and Hilma af Klint's visionary contributions were finally recognized, establishing her as a true foremother of abstract art. .... s/s : ???1893 ???
In 1893, Frederick Douglass invited Ida B. Wells to lunch. She noted a place across the street, but indicated they would not receive service there. “Mr. Douglass, in his vigorous way, grasped my arm and said, ‘Come, let’s go there.’” Together, they “sauntered in...as if it were an everyday occurrence, cocked and primed for the fight if necessary. ” Douglass grabbed a table and chair for him and Wells, as “paralyzed” staff looked on . A stand-off ensued with wait staff until the proprietor realized it was Frederick Douglass, and warmly welcomed him while sharing stories of a time past when Douglass visited his hometown. “When [the proprietor] finally went to another part of the room, Mr. Douglass turned to me with a roguish look and said, ‘Ida, I thought you said that they didn’t serve us here. It seems we are getting more attention than we want.’” Frederick Douglass spent his life fighting for justice and equality. He never knew the date of his birth. This is something he struggled with throughout his lifetime. Douglass believed that he was born in the month of February in 1817. In fact, records show that Douglass was born in February of 1818. He chose the 14th of February for his birthday because his mother would call him her “little Valentine." Unfortunately, Douglass never knew much about his parentage. His mother, Harriet, was sold off when Douglass was but a child, and he only met her a few times before she passed away. Though born enslaved in Maryland, he escaped as a young man and became a leading voice in the abolitionist movement. Credit Goes To The Respective Owner Plain Letter No Tut 08-22-2020

s/s : ??? 1837 ??? - Added more history I found
Olive Oatman (September 7, 1837 – March 21, 1903) was an American woman whose life became a symbol of cultural encounters in the American West. She is known for being captured by Native Americans as a teenager, living among them for several years, and later returning to white society with a distinctive chin tattoo. In 1851, Olive was traveling with her family from Illinois to California as part of a religious group. While crossing the Arizona desert, they were attacked by a Native American tribe. Most of her family, including her parents and siblings, were killed. Olive and her younger sister, Mary Ann, were taken captive and endured harsh conditions for about a year. The sisters were eventually traded to another group, believed to be the Mojave people. While with them, Olive was adopted by a tribal leader and his wife, who provided her with care and stability. As part of their customs, the Mojave tattooed her chin with traditional markings, a sign of acceptance within their community. Unfortunately, Mary Ann did not survive long after their transfer, likely due to starvation caused by a severe drought. Olive, however, remained with the Mojave for nearly five years. While some accounts suggest she was treated well, much of her experience remains a mystery, shaped by the biases of the time. Rumors of a “white girl” living among the Mojave eventually reached American settlers. In 1856, a negotiation led by Royal B. Stratton secured Olive’s release, and she returned to mainstream society. Her story captivated the public, and she became widely known, though she rarely spoke about her experiences. After being taken into Mohave custody, the girls walked for days to a Mohave village along the Colorado River (in the center of what today is Needles, California). They were immediately taken in by the family of a tribal leader (kohot) whose non-Mohave name was Espaniole. The Mohave tribe was more prosperous than the group that had held the girls captive, and both Espaniole's wife, Aespaneo, and daughter, Topeka, took an interest in the Oatman girls' welfare. Oatman expressed her deep affection for these two women numerous times over the years after her captivity.[3]: 93 Aespaneo arranged for the Oatman girls to be given plots of land to farm. A Mohave tribesman, Llewelyn Barrackman, said in an interview that Olive was most likely fully adopted into the tribe because she was given a Mohave nickname, something only presented to those who have fully assimilated into the tribe. Olive herself would later claim that she and Mary Ann were held captive by the Mohave and that she feared to leave, but this statement could have been colored by the Reverend Royal Byron Stratton, who sponsored the publication of Olive's captivity narrative shortly after her return to White society. For example, Olive did not attempt to contact a large group of whites that visited the Mohaves during her period with them,[3]: 102 and years later she went to meet with a Mohave leader, Irataba, in New York City and spoke with him of old times.[3]: 176–77 Anthropologist Alfred L. Kroeber wrote in an article about the Oatman captivity: "The Mohaves always told her she could go to the white settlements when she pleased but they dared not go with her, fearing they might be punished for having kept a white woman so long among them, nor did they dare to let it be known that she was among them".[13] Another thing that suggests Olive and Mary Ann were not held in forced captivity by the Mohave is that both girls were tattooed on their chins and arms,[14][15] in keeping with the tribal custom. Oatman later claimed (in Stratton's book and in her lectures) that she was tattooed to mark her as a slave, but this is not consistent with the Mohave tradition, where such marks were given only to their own people to ensure that they would enter the land of the dead and be recognized there by their ancestors as members of the Mohave tribe.[5]: 78 The tribe did not care if their slaves could reach the land of the dead, however, so they did not tattoo them. It has also been suggested t
