Giving or Receiving
The Kotzker Rabbi gave two reasons for our naming the Feast of Shavuot "The Time of the Giving of Our Torah," and not "The Time of Our receiving of the Torah."
The first reason is that while the Torah was given us in the Time of Moses, we continue to receive the Torah all the time henceforth.
The second reason is that, while the Torah was given to every Jew alike, it was not received by everyone in equal proportion, since the receiving depends on the power of the understanding in each individual.
