CRBA/First time passport applications will be accepted at Chaim V'Chessed
Updates from Chaim V'Chessed
In recent months, it?has been extremely difficult to obtain appointments for first time passports and Consular Reports of Birth Abroad (CRBA) for newborn babies born to US citizens in Israel. This is particularly frustrating in advance of the upcoming Pesach travel season. Chaim V¡¯Chessed?has been interfacing with the US?Embassy for some months regarding this issue. We are now pleased to announce that the US?Embassy will hold a first time passport/CRBA application event at Chaim V¡¯Chessed offices on Monday, February?13.?
Registration for the event is open for babies born after August 1, 2022. Both parents must be US citizens, and at least one parent must have been born in the US. If accepted for an appointment, one parent alone (without the child or the second parent) will present the required documentation to Embassy staff at the Chaim V¡¯Chessed offices. Following a successful application, the applicant will be given an Embassy appointment for next Friday, February 17 to appear before a consul and complete the process. It is hoped that passports will arrive by Rosh Chodesh Nissan (March 23).
A limited number of appointments are available. If you meet the requirements, please click to apply for an appointment.
Chaim V¡¯Chessed salutes the US Embassy for initiating this?helpful event.
