Sounds like snake oil to me¡ªif there is no adequately statistically powered clinical trial, then it is hard to take it seriously. Here, there is not even a coherent mechanism or explanation that is consistent with known cell biology. ?

That said, I totally understand why people search out alternative treatments. Please see ?
?
Just please be aware that there are many frauds who prey on desperate people, and also plenty of well-intentioned practitioners that simply want to help patients so badly that they lose their perspective (see ). The easiest person to fool is yourself (paraphrasing Richard Feynman).
?
It does make me mad that there are scam artists (not limited to alternative medicine) that target people with medical conditions, but at least acupuncture and electric fields are not likely to actually hurt you (just your wallet and maybe your pride).

Some caveats about Dr. Tennant:

His name is Jerry Tennant MD, MD(H), PScD. He has several books available on Amazon. I got Healing is Voltage: ?Healing the Eyes. Honestly, most of the book is spent explaining what Electro Magnetic Field is and why it¡¯s important. He pulls in a good bit of info on?nutrition and mineral?supplements (as well as food sources for the same)?although there is not a cohesive section on this.? There is a segment covering his background¡ªboth as a physician/surgeon and as someone?incapacitated by infection for years.?There are?sections on Acupuncture, dental toxins and fungi. Also?some information on the Biomodulator and transducer he designed.?The last few chapters are dedicated to eye diseases. Obviously not a particularly easy or cohesive read but a lot of good information. I have ordered a second book he wrote. The company that sells his equipment is Synergy. I was disappointed in the information available about the equipment on the website. They have a number of videos with more specific treatment information in various diseases, however they are only available for viewing if you have purchased the equipment

It's always so encouraging to hear about new possibilities. What is the name of the Opthamologist Naturopath and what books did he write? Please let us know about your progress. All the best to you, your brother and your friends' health.

This is great information¡ªespecially having the exact protocol used. My brother suffered an optic stroke about three weeks ago and the medical doctors are saying it can¡¯t be reversed. Unfortunately he has been legally blind since birth in the eye that DIDN¡¯T have the stroke. We are looking for an acupuncturist in Kansas City. Have talked to several that don¡¯t seem comfortable treating this problem, which is why the info is so valuable. I am a firm believer in acupuncture as I am a rare (11 year) survivor of late stage ovarian cancer and my acupuncturist treated me through all of my chemo regimens and beyond.
?
We also started using the Tennant Biomodulator and Transducer if anyone is interested in trying treatment with electromagnetic field. They claim pretty good results in OTHER eye problems such as macular degeneration and glaucoma. It is quite expensive to buy but we are renting the machine from an alternative medicine doctor. This Doctor Tennant has written several books¡ªhe is an Opthamologist and also a Naturalopath. He really stresses diet and nutrition (vitamin and mineral supplementation) as important. I have an acquaintance who was blind from macular degeneration and about ten years ago she found a clinic in California that offered some type of electrical stimulation for the eyes as well as a very stringent vitaman/mineral supplement schedule. After almost a year on treatment her vision improved enough to get her drivers license. That is what caused me to start researching electromagnetic field treatments.

Good luck to you sir. If it helps one more then it is worth it.
Joe, Thanks for sharing this very important finding and your experience! I see that the article came out 8 years ago in 2015. I wonder why this seems to be largely unknown to our group. Has anyone else here tried this acupuncture method? It is amazing that you had restored vision after just 3 weeks. The article claims : "The total effective rate for visual acuity improvement after 8 weeks of acupuncture was 81.71%." This is certainly worth a try for both old and new cases!

My story is a little different but I feel compelled to chime in. I had a NAION attack in November. It left my right eye almost blind. I was severely depressed but my wife kept hope. She sought out alternative treatments for me. The main reason being is that she also had a condition and the medical community didn't help so she sought out a supplement regiment and it cured a condition that she had. To be completely honest, when I saw her go through her struggles and slowly cure herself I was still not convinced that the supplements and alternative medicines was the reason why. I still did not give the treatment any credit and out of my own ignorance I wrote it off as time and the body healing itself.

Back to my situation. Out of desperation I chose alternative medicine as a path that I was willing to take. I was looking to do things differently even if I did not 100% believe in what I was doing. I also went ALL IN. So I started with the UPMC alternative treatment department and they put me in touch with an acupuncture specialist, Tricia Smith M.S, LAc. She studied my condition and came up with an acupuncture treatment. In addition, I scheduled with another acupuncturist, Mara Carlini MSAOM, LAc. I gave her a copy of the web article that I attached below and she developed her own regiment for me based on the readings.

Within 2 week's time I started to notice something was changing. I thought it was a placebo effect. I was in disbelief. The 3rd week I had a follow up appointment with a Neuro Opthamologist. I told him that my condition seemed to improve. He seemed immediately skeptical but chose to do a thorough exam. He looked at the optic nerve and noticed that the swelling was gone but that was expected to happen. I was given multiple eye tests and my vision returned, I am back to 20/20 corrected with my glasses. I do notice a very small amount of blurriness but it is minimal.
?
My heart goes out to those of you who are struggling with this. I wanted to share my story and hope maybe this path could help someone else. I did react very early in the process and the Doctors are saying that may have helped the cause.

Best of Luck,

Good post Chiarina. Couldn¡¯t agree more with your post. Find most days you get some form of frustration from the lack of vision. As to what caused it not a clue I had never been fitter than I was when I had my first episode at 57. Driving wise much the same as you I only drive in day light and only places I¡¯m familiar with. This is allowed with an annual eye test from the British drivers licensing centre

Hi LIsa. Yes. This is my story too. I think it was 6 months for the eye to stabilize and then the sight you have is the sight you will live with. Glasses have only helped me a little. My vision is still a little blurry. My doctor told me it won't get worse and may not get any better. I can still see and do daily activities but I have had to give up my work as a teacher and I cannot drive long distances. My vision is like looking through a dirty window or window mesh. I hope all goes well with you.
I was diagnosed four weeks ago. My right eye almost half is very blurry. I have sleep apnea and low blood pressure not due to meds. The only thing drs found after 2 cat scans. 1 mri is high cholesterol. Drs told me 6 weeks for eye to be stable for a new eye exam to get glasses. Does this scenario sound familiar to anyone? Sincerely, Lisa
