All so true. However, were I a person with one NAION eye already, you can be damned sure I wouldn¡¯t touch GLP-1¡¯s until there¡¯s an answer. ¡°Association¡± isn¡¯t causality, but it¡¯s enough for me.

Yes most of us know this is out there. As is the case with many new occurrences in medicine it¡¯s wise to be cautious as to committing your thoughts to one idea. Ozempic is a common factor as is obesity and diabetes. Is OSA or CA another factor? Is HBP? Disk ratio? AFIB? Could it be that morbid obesity was more of a threat to life than the side effects of the medication? ?We don¡¯t know the answers to these things. The onset of NAION is a very emotional experience for all of us. The percentage of Ozempic users with NAION is miniscule. Let¡¯s use caution if the medication is ever suggested but let¡¯s not throw the baby out with the bath water¡yet, until we now if these new drugs are the cause. At this point like every other theoretical cause of NAION, we really don¡¯t know if any of them are actually to blame.?
