Visual Studios HRI test version 17 MAR 2017
3
There is a new test version HRI-TEST.zip in the files section.
Version 17 MAR 2017.
This allows FLOW CONTROL settings options for all radios that use a regular RS232 COM Port.? (Not available for CI-V controlled radios).? In the past HRI always used No Flow Control.
For Icom Marine Radios, I was forcing Flow Control to NONE, RTS always ON, and DTR always ON.? Regardless of whether you checked or didn't check RTS or DTR in the settings, for ICOM Marine Radios. HRI acted like both were checked.? Now ICOM Marine Radio owners can experiment to see what works best for them, but remember that in the past it was always No Flow Control, RTS ON, and DTR ON.
It's also possible that some Kenwood Radio models might work better with RTS Flow Control if the radio has a real RS232 CAT control port on the radio.
If I do not get complaints, these changes will be in the future regular Visual Studios HRI.
Regards,
Howard

HRI IC M710 RadioEmulation rig control with Virtual Serial Port Emulation settings (For Ham Programs that use HamLib, RigCat etc.)
I am currently using these HRI settings with IC M710, VSPE,? USB Signalink soundcard interface to ACC 1 for VOX PTT and TX/RX Audio, USB to clone port cable for FLDIGI and WSJT-X but it will also work with a homebrew RS-422 DB-9 M710 Remote port to soundcard/USB to RS-232 serial cable.

Errors with IC-M710 marine radio
5
Hello Howard:
I'm amateur radio operator for 25 years now, my calls are CO2KL
(Cuba extra class) and KM2KL(USA extra), my main interests are DX
and contesting.
This is my first post, I finally build an Icom interface for my
IC-M710, so I start testing HRI VS version, you did a great job
(thank you) and I get my radio connected in my first try BUT....
I get a number of errors while I test HRI, those errors are
listed here, hope you can help me, as this is my first and only
radio. Let me describe you my working conditions:
HRI Version: HRI VS 20161226
PC: Core I5 Laptop, Windows
10, 6Gb RAM, SSD 120Gb.
Interface USB - RS232: FTDI
CI-V Interface: Home made
CT-17 (2 transistors)
I can program the radio via EX1726.exe under DOS environment, in
that conditions I can change all programmables options in the
radio, so I believe CI-V is working just fine.
In HRI:
Turning
ON, all looks good, with "minor errors", as you can see here
Start
Button is
turning things ON
Port
COM3 is opened.

Visual Studios HRI version 25 DEC 2016
3
Hi Everyone,
There is a new Visual Studios HRI version 25 DEC 2016 in the FILES section.
This version introduces a new Radio Emulation feature using a virtual COM port.
I recommend VSPE at http://www.eterlogic.com/Products.VSPE.html which is free if you don't mind a nag-screen every time you start up the virtual com ports (once per computer bootup).
With a VSPE connector virtual COM port - for example COM16, you set HRI settings Radio Emulator to use COM16.
In the amateur radio software (for example FLDIGI) you set it up as Kenwood TS2000 radio on COM16.
Now
the amateur radio software treats HRI as a radio - being able to ask or
set the frequency, mode, etc.. via commands over COM16.? In addition
the commands to transmit are also supported.? Another way to transmit is
to raise RTS on COM16.
This feature is very useful for radio
models which HRI supports, but the amateur radio software does not
support.? THIS IS OF PARTICULAR USEFULNESS FOR THOSE USING ICOM MARINE
RADIOS.
Regards,
Howard

Visual Studios HRI version
Ok everyone,
Visual Studios HRI was not sending the REMOTE command to Icom Marine Radios.
I made a fix to Visual Studios HRI - this small change will only affect Icom Marine Radio users.
When starting VS HRI, the date for this version will be 23NOV2016v1
So re-download VS-HRI from the FILES section, and let me know if works well or does not work well.
Regards,
Howard
