Adding a new field to AC Log

I operate from two different QTH's but use one common logfile.? But I would like a simple way to keep track of which contacts are made from which QTH.? To do this should I just edit my configuration to change my address each time I change QTH's, or can I just add a text field to my screen where I can just type in something like the name of my city?
?
Thanks!

Why not start with using the SETUP window to change your STATE – COUNTY – GRID – LAT/LON?? Unless you are only blocks away, that should cover it. I am 50% portable, this is how I roll.? I set the SETUP for every location.

If you're moving your computer to and fro, then you can update the setup data to reflect the correct QTH.? If the State/County/Gridsquare?are the same between the two locations, then you can use one of the eight OTHER fields, set it to copy the last value, and put it on your main screen so you see it for every QSO and can update it before hitting enter to log it.?

There are (of course!) lots of things to consider when operating from more than one location.? Like making sure you use the proper TQSL location record when you upload to LoTW.? ? However (!) most of that can be dealt with once you decide how to store your location each time you add a QSO to your ACLog database.? ?Even though there is a data element named 'My_Gridsquare' in the database schema used by all N3FJP loggers, that particular data element cannot be referenced for update by the available facilities in ACLog (unfortunately).? ?So I have chosen to assign the name 'My_Gridsquare' to the 'Other2' data element.? And (fortunately) ACLog allows the Other2 field to be placed in the main QSO entry area with the title of 'My_Gridsquare'.? ?And it is identified as 'My_Gridsquare' when I export my QSOs to an ADIF file (and also when the behind-the-scenes export happens during the automated process of uploading to LoTW).
So wherever I am operating, I enter that location's grid in 'My_Gridsquare' and then when I choose to upload to LoTW I can easily select a given location's QSOs and select the matching TQSL location record.? ?I have operated from at least 40 different locations/grids and with a little 'being careful' I have been able to keep LoTW locations correct for my QSOs.?

This really is the designed and implemented way to do it. I operate away from home a lot. I have set the option (don’t recall where) for setup to open its window every time I start ACLog, reminding me to put in the state/county/grid where I am. I also make an LoTW/TQSL station location for wherever I am. Since the grid from setup is in the log, this easily distinguishes among locations with no extra fields.?

Bill N7DZ?

Bill,
FWIW - there is a checkbox on the 'Setup' window for 'Always display this form on startup...'? ?Whic tells ACLog to prompt you for your location information at startup.? ?
------
Those items cannot be added to the 'new QSO' section at the bottom of the main window.? ?They can't be edited in the 'recent contacts' area of the main window. They can be viewed and edited on the expanded 'edit contact' window.
The location information can be confusing because the data field names are not consistent:
On the 'settings' window they are:? ?Grid, State, and County
On the expanded 'edit contact' window they are:? Grid Sent, State Sent, and County Sent
In the 'recent contacts' area? of the main window they are: Grid S, State S, and County S
In the exported ADIF they are:? My_Gridsquare, MY_State, and My_Cnty
-----------
For those who wish to dig deeper...? The 'My_...' ADIF elements can be passed to TQSL and then to LoTW using a 'generic location record' in TQSL.? ?Which can reduce the number of TQSL location records you need to maintain.
--------------
Bottom line:? ?Bill, you are correct when you say that the three location data items can be automatically added to each new QSO record and populated with values from the 'Setup' window.? ?And then you can identify the QSOs from a specific location... and sign them with the correct TQSL location record when you upload to LoTW.
