ACLog - Changing color of Title Bar, Main Form Header, Dropdowns

Jerry Johnston

Hello all,
?
I have the latest version of ACLog (v7.0.10), and have been able to change grid color, etc using the Settings>Appearance>Colors and Fonts menu option. However, the title bar, main form header, and dropdowns (see photo with arrows below) are unable to be changed (and put out a surprising amount of light in a dim room). Did I miss a setting, or can these be changed somewhere in the settings file manually?
?
Thanks and Happy Thanksgiving!

Hi Jerry,

Thanks for your e-mail.? Those components of the controls aren't customizable from our software, but you can change them for all applications (at least the title bar) universally for all apps, in your OS settings, according to Perplexity, as follows.

Global Color Change

You can change the title bar color for all applications by:

Right-clicking on the desktop
Selecting "Personalize"
Going to the "Colors" section
Turning on "Show accent color on title bars and window borders"

Enjoy and Happy Thanksgiving!

Hi Scott, thanks for replying!
?
I tried that and while the title bar color can be changed (and is only changed when the window has focus, otherwise back to normal), the main grid header and dropdowns (indicated by the other two arrows) do not change color.
?
Maybe an idea to include in a future release? No idea how difficult it would be to make the change but if simple to do might be worthwhile.
?
Thanks again and 73,

Hi Jerry,

Thanks for your follow up.? Unfortunately, the sub properties of the individual elements of the Windows controls aren't exposed in the C# development environment.? In short, I can set foreground and background colors of a control (which we've provided to users to customize as they like in Settings > Appearance > Colors and Fonts), but C# doesn't provide exposure to the sub elements you've mentioned.

I'm sorry that I didn't have the answer you were hoping for.

Enjoy and Happy Thanksgiving!

Hi Scott,

Gotcha, thanks for the quick reply. Did some digging and there are some third-party programs that let you install custom themes, etc. I might look into those.

Have a great weekend!

Jerry

How does JTAlert do it? It is written in C# and doesn't rely on 3rd party libraries to achieve color theming of controls and windows. I recall VK3AMA in a past post on his group mentioning this. I wonder how he does it?
