FT710 switches from SSB to CW-U automatically. Why?

When I fire up ACLog, my Yaesu FT-710 switches modes from SSB to CW.
?
The specific example tonight was YN9H showed up in the DX Spotter on 7.164 SSB.
?
When I went to contact him, the rig was on SSB, but then automatically switched to CW.
?
I don't understand why.
?
Is there a rig interface setting I need to correct?
?
Can you help?
?

My guess is that the setting for Mode determined by box is incorrect.
?
I believe 7.164 is a phone segment so i don't know why it would switch to CW??
double check that section on the rig interface screen

Hi Ken,

Thanks for your e-mail.? When you click on a DX Spot, the mode for the frequency is sent along with the frequency, based on your band plan file.? Click Help > Frequency Privileges to see the band plan in AC Log.? 7.164 is in the SSB portion of 40M, so SSB would have been sent, provided you've not modified the band plan from default.

Hi Scott,

That's exactly the issue:? the radio does go to SSB for a moment, then within a second or two switches to CW for no apparent reason.

Any tips?

Happy Thanksgiving!

Hi Ken,

Thanks for your follow up.? Sorry, no, I'm not familiar with Yaesu rigs.? What you describe isn't typical at all, so hopefully someone here with more familiarity with your specific rig will have some insights for you.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Enjoy!

If you are using rig control try going into Settings - Rig Interface
?
Check the two boxes that say not to send mode change commands when executing rig control.
?
These check boxes are listed on the screen just under the Radio Polling Rate setting selection.

Tried those settings and tried to get 2 DX contacts - 1) an SSB contact on 18.143 MHz that the rig switched immediately to CW-USB and 2) a CW-LSB contact on 7.010 MHz that the rig would only do on CW-USB...?
