Amateur Contact Log 3.2 Now Available & KB3MNE's Call Sign Graphic Services!
Hi All,
?
Here are the latest N3FJP Software Announcements!
?
?
Amateur Contact Log 3.2 is Now Available!
?
Ever since I've released Amateur Contact Log 3.1, I've had lots of great feedback with one recurring theme - the new text and display enhancements are great! Now, if I could only make the DX List bigger, this would be about perfect!
?
So, I've been working on that feature the last few days! You can now specify the percentage of the screen that the DX Spotting window uses, as well as its font size and color. The DX List size has been 10% up until now, but you can enter any percentage you like by clicking Settings > Appearance DX Spotting List Size. Change the font by clicking Settings > Appearance DX Spotting List Font and the color by clicking Settings > Appearance > Color.
?
In addition, I have simplified the downloading of Jim, AD1C's latest country files. From AC Log's menu options click File > Download Country Files. This will download the country files to your N3FJP Software\Shared folder, which is where AC Log first checks for the latest country files. I am in the process of updating the contesting software to also first check in the shared directory for country files, so once that is complete, by using AC Log, (or manually downloading the country files to your shared directory), you will instantly update the country files for all programs. I will let you know when the contesting program updates are complete.
?
I have also modified AC Log's eQSL upload sequence so that users have the opportunity to change their log in info before the upload occurs. This is important to folks with multiple call signs.
?
Finally, you can display your own, 1000 X 568 splash screen graphic on the splash screen! Simply place a file named splash.jpg in the N3FJP Software\Shared directory in your Documents and Settings folder. More details on that in the next announcement below!
?
Upgrading from version 3.1 to 3.2 is a snap! Just download the latest from , let it install in its own default working directory and you will be all set! You'll find directions for upgrading from earlier versions on the website.

KB3MNE's Graphic Services are Now Available!
?
?
It is neat how one thing leads to another! Since I've updated my software with the new N3FJP splash screen, I've had a number of folks contact me about obtaining a similar, high quality, BMP or JPG image for their own call. More recently, we started getting requests from users, wishing to display their own call graphics on the AC Log splash screen. I have incorporated that feature into AC Log 3.2 and it will also be included in future versions of the contesting software as well!
?
My son Brad, KB3MNE, actually created and rendered the image in 3DS Max, and it is an involved process. There is a lot more to it than entering new call letters for each request. It requires positioning, lighting adjustments for each call sign, etc., so there is significant time involved. Anyway, there has been enough interest that Brad has decided to hang out his shingle and provide the service of designing an image for you, for only $10!
?
Here is how it works....
?
- E-mail me at snkdavis@... with your call sign, expressing your interest and I will forward your request to Brad.
?
- Brad will prepare a small, sample image with a watermark and he will e-mail it to you for your approval.
?
- If you are satisfied with the sample Brad e-mails you, you can purchase your full sized version here:
?
Or by sending your payment to:
?
G. Scott Davis
118 Glenwood Road Bel Air, MD 21014-5533 ?
After we receive your payment, Brad will e-mail your full sized image (if you order by mail, be sure to include your e-mail address). Brad will also include a suitably sized image to display on your splash screen when you start AC Log 3.2. Brad will include specific instructions on where to save the image so that it displays on startup.
?
The full sized image will be 1920 X 1080, which is much crisper than the sample above and can be used for QSL cards, PC desktops, screen savers, website banners, mugs, T-shirts and a variety of other applications. Other sizes, including even larger images, are available by request at no extra charge. You can also add your name or other short text to the graphic for the image that Brad creates for you! Alternative color schemes are available by request as well, just let us know what you have in mind!
Brad will also create more complex graphics for you! Fees for more detailed graphics are based on time and complexity. Let Brad know what you are looking for and he will happily provide a free estimate.

Questions on Upgrade Costs
?
After the last announcement, I was surprised how many folks asked about the upgrade cost for AC Log. Upgrades for all my software are free to registered users!
?
I also very much appreciate the second most often asked question, which was along the lines of:
?
"I know your upgrades are free, but I also realize how much time and effort coding these enhancements take and that your pricing policy doesn't fully reflect that. Can I send you something to show my appreciation for your continued efforts?"
?
Yes, your continued support in any amount is welcome and deeply appreciated! You can use this page:
?
?
or send your contribution by mail to my address above. Thank you so much for your continued support!
