WXSpots 2.2 is Now Available & WXWarn 1.3 Reminder!
开云体育Hi All,
?
?
WXSpots 2.2 is now available!?
?
WXSpots is still all about enabling weather enthusiasts to connect in a
community environment with a focus on severe weather and an emphasis on actual
observations, but I've also added code?to interface with your home weather
station and automatically report severe winds.? It works like this:
?
The current output data from your weather station is read once per
minute.? Wind speeds of 30 MPH or more will automatically trigger a routine
report.? Wind speeds of 50 MPH or more trigger a severe report.? Once
a report is sent, the program will not automatically report again for 20
minutes.
?
Leaving WXSpots running and connected to your weather station is a great
way to provide severe weather alerts, even when you are sleeping or not
home.? The more observers with weather stations that we have continually
connected to WXSpots, the better our severe weather monitoring system will
be!
?
To use the new feature, just click Settings > Home Weather Station Data
from the menu options and follow the directions on the form that appears.
?
Reminder - Please upgrade to WXWarn 1.3!
?
WXWarn is designed to download and parse real time weather data and severe
forecasts published by the NWS.? The weather data is displayed based on
criteria that you can select.
?
The weather data feed that the National Weather Service provides and WXWarn
1.2 accesses is scheduled to be eliminated sometime in 2009.??Once
that happens, WXWarn versions 1.2 and earlier will not work.? I have
updated the software to pull from the new NWS data feed.? WXWarn 1.3 will
also optionally display the current?NWS weather feeds?right in WXSpots
(WXSpots versions 2.1 and later)!?

Web Guru? ?
A couple other folks and I have been kicking around the development of a
National Weather Community web site.? My HTML coding knowledge is
minimal.? We are wondering if there is someone who would be interested in
taking the current WXSpots data (the last 12 hours are uploaded here with each
report:? ),
parsing that data and creating a nice web page display.? This is just for
fun.? Please let us know if you have the interest, expertise and would
enjoy helping us with that part of the project. ?
?
As always, thanks everyone for your kind words,
encouragement?suggestions and spreading the word about?our
software.? Kimberly and I really appreciate it!
