I hope that everyone is enjoying their summer! ?It may be hot now, but fall contest season is right around the corner!
I'm very excited to let you know that Jeff, N7YG and author of PSK Express,?which supports PSK, RTTY and other digital modes, is working on interfacing directly with Amateur Contact Log and all my contesting programs that support a digital mode (ARRL RTTY, Field Day, CQ WW, CQ WPX, NAQP, etc.)!
PSK Express has been around a while, but the interface to my software is new and is still in beta testing. ?We would really appreciate your help fleshing out the remaining interface bugs. ?If you would like to help, you can download PSK Express (free) from Jeff's web site here:
If you are new to PSK Express, click on the upper download link on Jeff's site to get the full version install. ?
If you currently have PSK Express?already?installed on your PC, that is older than 2.1.8.6, start PSK Express and then click Help > Check For Update and follow the prompts to get the update that will interface with my software.
We really need as many of you beta testing (and enjoying) PSK Express as possible. ?I've been around the block a few times with SSB and CW contests, but I am very new to digital. ?Many of you will have a better, intuitive feel for how the programs should behave together and Jeff and I welcome your input. ?Please join and then post your thoughts, suggestions and bug reports to Jeff's newly created PSK Express support group here:
Getting Started
To connect PSK Express to my software, from Amateur Contact Log and any N3FJP contest software with a digital mode (please test them all), click Settings > Application Program Interface and check the upper check box to enable the server on the form that appears. ?That's all you need to do with my software.
Then, from PSK Express, click N3FJP > Setup and check the Enable Interface. ?Also check the Auto Tab option, if it is not checked already. ?Don't worry about setting up rig interface in PSK Express, my software will handle that (if you have it enabled). ?If successful, the upper portion of the PSK Express Display will look like this:
To send text from the decode window directly to my software, just give the word a single right click. ?A small list of fields will appear. ?All you have to do is click on the field you want the value to transfer to. ?To tell N3FJP to log from PSK Express, just click the Log button, or click Clear to clear.
One of the very cool things Jeff has?programmed?in PSK Express is the ability to determine which N3FJP program it is connected to and adapt accordingly. ?For example, when connected to AC Log, you have a number of fields you can transfer to (some are mapped to Other fields in set up):
But when you are connected from PSK Express to my Field Day software, only the relevant fields are displayed:
For contests requiring a serial number, PSK Express will also check with my software and transfer it back to PSK Express! ?Here is an example of CQ WPX:
The PSK Express connection to N3FJP Software is still very much in beta development and we really need your help! ?Please give PSK Express a try now and let us know how you make out on the PSK Express e-mail group, as soon as you can. ?We would like to have as many bugs squashed as possible before CQ WW DX RTTY, which is less than two months away! ?In the unlikely event you don't find any bugs, please let us know that too!
Jeff is also planning a streamlined version of PSK Express that hopefully will fit nicely around my contesting software when complete!
Please be sure to thank Jeff for all the really hard work he has already put in to this project!
We are eager to hear your feedback on the PSK Express e-mail group!
73, Scott
