Re: using (BAV99) diodes as 1G resistors
Thank you Sergei, very interesting approach!
Just a quick question... what about the HiZ area when using BAV99/BAV199s?
I mean, using a 1G resistor makes very easy to isolate HiZ section

Why don't you make one up with your BAV99s and see if it results in a good mike

Re: using (BAV99) diodes as 1G resistors
You need MUCH less leakage in your diodes for noise. Guru Wurcer recommends BAV199 which has 500x less leakage than BAV99
and no. Bootstrapping doesn't help with the noise.

Re: using (BAV99) diodes as 1G resistors
Sergei,
here is a sample PCB of your right side, without attempts to use the back of the PCB yet, but solder pads I like to leave big so can tack to them easily.

Some of us have not heard a U87 yet ;^)? I would guess it sounds nice but is not a faithful reproduction of what it hears, without harmonic-content being favored in any way.?
I would suspect THE #1

Yes. If anyone has done this and has pics of EM172 (also PUI 5024) showing the best place to cut, please post.
Actually the acceptable line length goes up to 56m so an additional 36m
