Re: DIY mic activator body options?
Plase find attached the schematic of my MicBooster.
It's not the most perfect in the world, it can always be improved, but it's used by hundreds of discerning users around the world.
I had one of

Re: DIY mic activator body options?
I'm quite the opposite... I managed to squeeze 14 bipolar transistors (packaged in matched pairs), 21 resistors and 5 capacitors into a FetHead-style body. It's a true fully differential amplifier

Re: DIY mic activator body options?
I bought a few samples. There is not much space for the PCB. I don't want to go SMD so I had to give up. The price is quite attractive compared to the Neutrik solution.

Re: DIY mic activator body options?
That's what I used for my MicBooster. The space is good for conventional through-hole PCB.

Re: DIY mic activator body options?
Thanks for the suggestions, this gave me the idea to look for other clones, and I found this: GAZ-MA1 MINI Dynamic Microphone Preamp ( https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006372538382.html ). It's not

Re: DIY mic activator body options?
Yuo might even consider using the enclosure of one of these: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006647753658.html
It's a sort of Cloudlifter 'clone', and is a robust enclosure - complete with XLRs

What about something like the Neutrik NA-Housing? https://www.neutrik.com/en/product/na-housing
You can match it with their D-shape modules, like the NM3MD-B and NM3FD-B XLR connectors, to make a

DIY mic activator body options?
I am designing a "mic activator" with some design goals that are not satisfied by the simpler ones (e.g. FetHead, CloudLifter), but are possibly already done by the more complex ones like SE

Re: chOPA EM700 (op amp based charge amplifier preamp)
When doing noise simulations on JFET circuits, check out the KF paramater of your JFET model. If it is not present in the parameters list or has the default value of 1E-18, then the JFET model cannot

Re: Cheap mic body donors
That's what this thread is for. If you see a good deal on a mic body, let the group know.
If you buy one, tell us about it, since a lot of the cheap mics are junk inside, but some can
be improved.

I have always found LTspice noise simulations to be quite accurate, as long as the models are correct, which is not always the case.
