As far as I am aware, this is with Apple and everything audio per
firewire. I have the same trouble with my Beyerdynamic Headzone HRTF
processor.

Some people have RME Fireface 400/800 working on MacOS up to Sonoma at least, so it clearly isn't absolutely everything audio on firewire, though that is certainly what official apple statements would make you think.
However, it is possible that different manufacturer drivers use different parts of the apple firewire systems, and that some parts of that genuinely are removed so it may vary by manufacturer, product and driver type.
I haven't tried it myself yet, I'm waiting for a compelling reason to upgrade. I guess that may be simply that Monterey is now unsupported.
