I've been designing some new mic PCBs with opamps and thinking about what I haven't tried yet.
So I'm thinking - opamp mic circuits are very clean, reasonably quiet, and generally pretty good.
Kind of boring though - not a lot of colour or character...
I know it sort of seems perverse, but what about an opamp mic with a transformer?
Any suggestions for an inexpensive, compact, readily available (in the UK) 1:1 transformer for this?
I was thinking about trying this one...
After all if the point is to add colour then very high technical quality may not be desirable or needed.
Other suggestions welcome! Especially if they are known to add a pleasing colouration.
