2945 LCD Replacement

Hi, Has anyone found a replacement for the LCD screen used in the 2945 service monitor? Epson ECM-A0310-1 or stock of the Nan Ya LTBRCT351FS

Which was mentioned by George Edmonds a few years back? Looking for one or 2 to repair 2x 2945 service monitors in Australia.

Regards, Andrew ?

Hi Andrew,
?
Did you see this?
?
I believe there was another person who did a similar trick but I cannot find it.
?
Anyway, this is definitely the way to go if you can get everything together. I am sure my Marconi will go this direction eventually.

Displays for the 2945 are available from Nigel Adams on the Marconi Groups.io site. See /g/Marconi-Test-Instruments/message/14781?p=%2C%2C%2C20%2C0%2C0%2C0%3A%3Arecentpostdate%2Fsticky%2C%2C2945+display%2C20%2C1%2C20%2C95743096

If you join the group and post what you require then Nigel should respond. He is in the UK and manages the Marconi Heritage collection.

Hi Arthur,

Thanks for making contact.

Just for clarity, I only have the monochrome screens available (usually for the earlier cooms test sets).
If your instrument is a 2945B then it is probably colour..

Richard made a reference to the colour versions in his message and gave a part number which you might be able to source on the web.

If you are still looking for a monochrome display, then i can certainly help.

Please let me know if this is any use to you.
Regards
Nigel

Hi Nigel,

Thank you for the quick reply.

My LCD is the newer colour one, and I would'nt like to go back to monochrome.
I will try and contact Richard, or maybe find the correct part number. According to my instrument supplier the part number I gave him is not correct? On the discussion they were reffering to a screen similar to the one used by BMW..

My 2545B is currently with the local suppliers for service and they managed to damage my screen during testing. It has horizontal lines across that was not there before. I am not sure if I should make them replace the screen on their cost or just accept it as it is now. The screen was perfect before it was sent in for repair. The technician reckons that it happens sometimes that the flex pcb disconect from the LCD and makes lines. I am very dissapointed to say the least. The instrument was bought back in 1998 and used by myself all these years and always been looked after...

Please see attached pictures and let me know what you think.

Best regards

Hi Arthur,

I don’t know if a 2945A LCD would even work in a 2945B. The Processor board goes still have the monochrome LCD connector, but I don’t know if it would work. The Colour LCD connector is a completely different type.?
The part number Richard quoted is correct - there is plenty of these around. (P/n?LQ065T9DR52U)
I’ve never had an LCD failure yet on a 2945B, all of these have been very reliable. I would advise you to strongly recommend to these people to reseat the LCD connectors at both the LCD and Processor board ends.?
If that doesn’t fix it, you can still get brand new colour LCD’s anyway, no need to put up with a bad display.?

Hmm, I'm not sure that part number is correct. I have come across a note that says the part is LQ065T9DZ01. Unless Dave is 100% sure it would be worth dismantling your instrument to check before ordering a replacement! There? appears to be several displays with the same generic part number that look compatible, but better be safe than sorry!

Hi Richard,

I opened a brand-new-old-stock 2945B LCD at work and found this part number ?LQ065T9DR52U?on it, which is the same as what you previously quoted, so yes, 100% sure of that.?
So just now I’ve looked up the number you’ve just mentioned?LQ065T9DZ01?and this has turned up good results too with the same looking LCD.?
The only question now is does anyone know what the difference is between the DR52U the DZ01??
Interestingly, these both have Made in Japan on them, so it explains why these are such good quality and lasting so well.?
So anyway, it looks like either will do the trick.?
