Hi,
This is truly the first time I have ever seen this be something
that was an issue. I will check with the support guys and make
sure they have not seen this as well.
Now as far as making a new interface for setting up the motor
that can be done! Lua has all the power to make this happen. We
have OEM's that make simple scripts to setup the motor / IO and
other settings. I truly don't know what to do in this new "modern
age" The amount of things people expect out of the software is
getting a little foreign to me . 3D printers have done a wonderful
job of getting people into manufacturing. BUT at the same time it
has made a bunch of users that think CNC should be that simple. We
are working to try to make things simpler everyday and at the same
time support the "power users" . I think we are quickly getting to
the point that we have no middle ground. So we are working in VERY
simple screens and wizards to guide the user to do simple
operations and setup.? The issue is I think as the people learn
more they will want to get deeper into the machine and will want
to make the machine do more complex things.
Sorry for my rant :) But I am seeing this issue and trying to
figure out what we should do to help people.

conventionally used as an indicator of a button or clickable
link or any active screen component. there are all sorts of ways
of calling attention to an active component or link? using plain
text is just plain wrong. below is what you said that had me
confused suggesting that i should be able to find a button icon
of some sort etc. when you said that you have to click on the

since i have a few customizations that i really like.

greyed out but i must have pins right and checked boxes to use
the axis because they move when i run a gcode.
i am going to look one more time for something that might not
be checked

not see anything about hotkeys but the youtube looks
promising.Maybe i missed another doc. Can not do many
youtubes at high res with our viasat rip off. Still need to
know why motor settings csn not be entered

also i can not find anywhere where hotkeys are assigned. i found a tutorial you tube by a woman who sounds very authoritative so i think i might have found the answer but i have viasat internet and videos are blurry pixels at anything other than high res which means i have to wait weeks for vids to load. this is why i seriously shy away from youtube.
we are in the list for starlink and hope to get it soon so we will be in the 20th or is that 21st century like everyone else.
with all the fabulous improvements WTF can't there be a downloadable pdf worth shit? i have a great manual for mach3 and did not have many problems installing or using it other than a few here and there and the bugs which have prompted me to try mach4.
so maybe hotkeys and other kule keyboard stuff will be explained buy the very confident sounding woman if i live long enough to download the high res video
however trying to find out why motor tuning is greyed out could take me into the next century trying to find the answer.

There has been a huge trend away from the (Common User Architecture) CUA developed after years of research by IBM and originally supported by Microsoft.? Ever since Android came onto the scene with 'different' user interfaces with probably zero research things have been going downhill.? ? One has to remember Android phones were never designed to be useful phones;? the phone part is a side effect.? Software to "Enhance a User's Experience" but in reality _to_help_sell_advertising_ keeps arriving and dominates the user interfaces.? Microsoft and Apple have jumped onto that bandwagon in order to compete. ? The ability to hover over a button or ICON and have a 'hint' show up has been around long enough now that if clicking on text causes an effect then the Hint should clearly state what it does.? Better still there should still be a CUA approach to doing it if someone hasn't clued onto the shortcut.? Running CNC equipment doesn’t need user interfaces with "Enhanced User Experiences".? ? Hey! Let's make the ESTOP button flat and with the little behive symbol!? Just imagine what would happen if user experiences were enhanced for traffic lights with new colours because they are prettier.? The stop sign is shaped differently from a yield sign so even if covered in snow it still sends the message.? There are things that shouldn't be changed. ? My point is putting a line of text on a screen that by itself conveys information and then making it clickable without it looking like a button is extremely poor user interface design.? It's the constant changes to the UI that so irritate me. If you're writing the software, and you want to play with a new UI, I'm fine with that! Just make it a choice I have to make, and accept, to make the change, not a default! And make it easily reversable if I don't like it. Sometimes change is good. I absolutely loved Wordstar. Went though 6 versions of it. Quit using Wordstar when they did Wordstar for Windows. Didn't like the changes to the UI, didn't really like WYSIWYG all that much. I know know what text looks like. I want to be able to specify my changes to the appearance.?
Ah, well. Life is full of little disappointments. Somewhere here I have a little Z80 computer module that will let me do CP/M again. Of course, I'll need to hook it up to my computer to get it to display what's happening...

I put a bit of time into mach4 and got all i needed done without much dramas. Still there are some small improvements i wanted done but in reality i have no complaints to setup my system and get it to work. Cnc mill that is.
Only thing i really want done since many years now is a trajectory planner that makes me drool. The current one serves its purpose but its a 6. We need a 9.5 out of 10. Its out there... just have to know where to look.

I CAN NOT GET MOTOR TUNING TO WORK. i have all pins assigned etc and i can run a test gcode but the steps are totally wrong and need to be changed. in the appropriate place (something like config control motors) i have the familiar motor tuning screen similar to mach3. however the steps speed and accel are greyed out and i can not enter anything. by default all motor checkboxes were checked and i unchecked and checked until i was exhausted. nothing i could do would let me enter the values.
also i can not find anywhere where hotkeys are assigned. i found a tutorial you tube by a woman who sounds very authoritative so i think i might have found the answer but i have viasat internet and videos are blurry pixels at anything other than high res which means i have to wait weeks for vids to load. this is why i seriously shy away from youtube.
we are in the list for starlink and hope to get it soon so we will be in the 20th or is that 21st century like everyone else.
with all the fabulous improvements WTF can't there be a downloadable pdf worth shit? i have a great manual for mach3 and did not have many problems installing or using it other than a few here and there and the bugs which have prompted me to try mach4.
so maybe hotkeys and other kule keyboard stuff will be explained buy the very confident sounding woman if i live long enough to download the high res video
however trying to find out why motor tuning is greyed out could take me into the next century trying to find the answer.
