SoftLimits

Robert Campbell

Matthew,

I am not sure of the correct answer, but for soft limits on any system to
work, I would expect that you would need to home your machine to set a
reference point. You would need to start with some reference point.

Do soft limits only work is limits switches are in place? I cannot seem
to
activate them in the demo version. I hit reference all button when
maching
is closest and in the right hand corner and can exceed what I put in the
softlimit table.

Thanks

They need to be turned on in the Config/state screen as well.

It will only work if you have referencing switches. The red leds at left of
the positions DRO have to be green to get softlimits working.

Olivier:

It will work with no switches, because the lights go green wherever you
press ref if you have no switches...

Really ? didn't know that. Is it in the manual ?

Other point : it seems some beginners have never read the mach2 manual.
There is 2 reasons according to me :

- it's not easy to find on your site (perhaps a web shortcut inside mach2
could be fine).

- it's big

The lack of simple documentation for mach2 gives a lot of similar questions
on the forum, for example it seems a lot of users have problems to
understand limits and referencing, perhaps because it's too complicated in
the manual.

Ok then I am having some kind of problem. I cannot get the toggle button to
go green when I click on it. I downloaded the latest locked version.
