2 parallel port

One parallel port can handle four axis. On our breakout board on each limit axis we have two sets of screw terminals. One is labeled home and the other is labeled limits. The screw terminal marked signal (sig) are connected internally to one pin. Mach2 will know which direction the stepper motor was going. If you are using inductive proximity sensors the other two screw terminals gives you a place to connect the other two wires. The breakout board provids 12 volts to power your inductive proximity sensors. I noticed that using only 1 parallel port does not have enough pins
to handle all the limit/home switches for 3 axis and the solution is to combine some limit switches. However, I found out that mach2 allows the use of 2 parallel ports which should provide more pins for limit switches. A second parallel port requires me to buy a PCI parallel port card and an additional parallel port break out board (controller) like the www.pmdx.com. Can someone verify before I purchase these items that the second parallel port for mach2 can be used for additional limit/home switches? Thanks, |

Yes, a second port can be used exactly like the first. It just doubles the in's and out's ... Art www.artofcnc.ca ----- Original Message -----
