Hi Stan,

I understand what you’re saying.?

I just ordered a THC module from Cnc4PC.com, model THC-2.

??It’s compatible with the artsoft Mach3 plasma post processor. ?

Unfortunately I have no LUA Knowledge.?

Thanks,
Chuck

Chuck, in my opinion your post processor is at the core of any work done by CNC. I used the MP1000– THC for my post processor initially and then edited it for the laser, scribe, plasma, and the oxy acetylene torch that is on the table. I also made descriptions in my output file and put in cut sequence numbers so I can start stop or correct anywhere in a job. I will post a picture of the g code... a proficient working knowledge of Lua is very helpful.

Hello Chuck, I have been using mach3 for many years on my 9' x 23' plasma table and basically what you're trying to do requires that you use a plasma post processor with THC. That is where your THC is going to be initiated in the output G-Code and then ran in the plasma screen set that interact with your THC controller. The other part of the THC is a Plasma Cutter with torch active/ volts or adding this option through the installation of an Amp coil. You need to check with your plasma manufacturer for this option on your model or get one from the manufacturer of your THC controller that you will be using. Hope this helps.

random uncalled for movements. for example two features are spaced wrong in the y axis and then it is ok otherwise or at start a huge random move in the x direction. not subtle, could not complete parts it was just hopeless. and the change with jogging increment really should done so that the increment is either sticky from the last session or is at the minimum not the maximum .001" not 1" and it should default to incremental not continuous. this is from the perspective of an old guy who can get really bored or tired and make stupid mistakes even though he knows better.

Works fine after going back to old version.

Re: Mach4 downloads for recent development versons

Spencer,

It could be a lot of things. You might want to try the latest ESS plugin, I know Andy has worked a lot with dev. versions, and ESS 278.1 is actually the latest. Check the Warp9 forum for info on that.

That said, you did copy licenses, plugins, profiles, screens, maybe modules over from your old version, right? Not the entire folders, but whatever is different in those folders.

I've kind of followed along with dev versions and ESS plugins and never had much of a problem, and never one Andy at Warp9 didn't get fixed pretty quickly.

This "random motion" is certainly strange. I've certainly never seen THAT working with dev versions.

Version 2.0.4612 is the current "release" version. It does not contain the fix.
?
The fix Brian refers to has been implemented in the development versions on the FTP site here:

Do not be tempted to correct the spelling in the link, the typo is real.

The versions here have not been fully blessed, and may have other quirks. That said, many people are running them with good results.

Ok thanks, but this problem with the toolpath being off center, has become a real problem for me..

I just ram a job this morning.. I started by probing to find the center of part, when centered I zeroed the X and Y

Then loaded the tool and probed the tool Hight so that was set, then loaded the g code file.

Checked the X and Y they were at zero the z was at the correct height.

Started to run the job the X and Y went no where near the correct position and the z dove into the part… wrecked part now

So I flipped over and did the same thing exactly and it cut prefect . .

I have had this happen before when I run the part the first time if I re zero center everything and try again it runs fine..

I have tried this on 3 different computers also

Any suggestions,

Gary

All new to me.. Lets get what we can for data and see what we can find. I think that is the best thing to do.

Thanks

Ok Thanks Brian

I have run into another problem, not sure what the cause..

when i load the gcode file it never shows the machining to start in the parts center in the tool path display... form a couple of my profiles, if i start a run and then stop re zero the dro's and regen the tool path its now starting in the middle.. in the tool path display..

but i do have a couple profiles that don't have that problem i don't see any setting's that are different.
Do the profiles go bad? or get some sort of glitch, don't see any difference other than the way the tool path starts when the gcode is first loaded and its way off center position

Hi Tom
I have selected Mach2Mill and various other ones but with no luck. If I run the code in a demo version of Mach3 it runs ok. I will have a go at editing the G code as you suggest.?

it still does not work in the release version, just the beta version. i was not aware of the availability of beta versions until i mentioned the problem several times. no one told me it was fixed but only in the beta version. i? installed the beta and so far (with almost no testing) it seems fine. ihoe there are not other problems.

I think it would be a good idea to make simple changes with little likelihood of repercussions to the release version. I am sure this was a very simple fix. I would prefer that the last used incremental is saved as well as whether it is incremental or continuous. at least it does display the correct information now which is an improvement. before the next release is it possible to have incremental/continuous as well as the increment saved from the last session.
