Has anyone created a excel spreadsheet or know of a program that will take XY g code and convert it to polar coordinate g code using G 16. I\m building a scar robotic arm and nbeed such a program.

Send me a email to dmauch@... and then I will email you a Cartesian gcode file that I would like changed to polar.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Converting XY cartesian G code to Polar G code

The problem is that I am 79 and don't want to have to learn how to program in C .? Are you willing to write the post?

Re: Converting XY cartesian G code to Polar G code

Thanks but I knew how to convert cartesian to polar but I have several thousand lines of cartesian G code that I want converted so one line at a time wouldn't work for me.

Re: Converting XY cartesian G code to Polar G code

Years ago I wrote a C program to translate polar data to XY gcode. I have also written several C code programs to post process gcode and manipulate the XYZ values or build gcode files from data. It wouldn't be hard to write a C post processor to convert XYZ gcode with something like a "G9999 X0 Y0" to define center in the source to polar.

Re: Keyboard rapid

I will give that a try.

Re: Controlling relays via Custom Mcode

I made a mistake

In spindle its not the pin numbers is the output numbers
and I have set the pins numbers in the outputs, oops!
I am using the ESS Smoothstepper .

here is my m3 m4 m5 macro they work for me but I'm not a programmer.
but have a look maybe you can get something out of it...

Hopefully the attachment will work.

Re: Controlling relays via Custom Mcode

Hi Gary,
Thanks for reply.
I cannot open the attachment, it tries to open a hyperlink, comes up with a black screen.
I am totally confused with the behaviour of the O/Ps 3 to 8 that I am using.
If I allocate M3 to any of these the M3/M5 work correctly.
The VB code in Mcode looks correct. The On command workd using Activate or OemActivate. But will not turn off on command.

Really fustrating as I have litle model aircraft parts I am ready to machine and very limited time at moment as I am loking after m wife who is on a chemo round.

Anyway we keep trying?? eh.
Regards

Graham

Re: Controlling relays via Custom Mcode

Hi Ross,
Thanks for reply and attachment. Will be later today befor I can get out to workshop.
Immediate difference I note is you are using M1000 series, I am using M700, will try this also.

Regards

Graham

Re: Keyboard rapid

I have had similar issues with features that have stopped working. I think one was that I was unable to change motor settings. The only solution I found was to save the setup files (.XML extension) and reinstall Mach3. The safest way to try this is rename the Mach3 folder something like Mach3old then install a new Mach3 load into a folder called Mach3 then copy over the XML files, gcode, addons and licence file (and possibly other stuff that will show up when you look for them) from Mach3old to Mach3. If this fails to fix things you still have everything as it was in the Mach3old folder to fall back on.

Nice work, although maybe you might want to think about a tripod or stabilizer for the video's :-)

Yes, Mach4 does thread with a 1ppr sensor.
