Re: Controlling relays via Custom Mcode

Hello Graham,
I have attached a pdf of all the macros I use with Mach 3. There is quite a variety however on page 3, M911 and M910 turn on and off the first of 8 outputs I use to control solenoid valves. I am using Mach3 with a Warp9 Ethernet Smoothstepper.

Cheers,
Ross

Keyboard rapid

I have a couple of things that recently happened with my Mach 3 setup.? It will no longer rapid when pressing the shift key on the keyboard.? It used to work but I must have accidently changed something.? The other thing that is not working is saving the position on exit.? The program asks if I want to save and I click yes, but when I restart the program, it comes up with different coordinates than what I saved.? I would appreciate any suggestions on how to solve these issues.
Thanks.
Vince

I haven’t tried in in real control, at least that I remember, I tested it and watched the diao screen output leds for the outputs4 and 5 ?they did go on and off in mach3’s screen so I assumed they were working..

?

I will check further and see how I have mine setup, I run? 6 relays for the spindle 2 for forward 2 for reverse 1 for power on to the spindle controller and 1 for flood

All are SSD relays, also have 2 more for switching from computer control to manual control spindle

3 relays turn on with m3 and then off with m5, and same with m4..

I have to check the computer in shop, so will get back to you as soon as I can..

Hi Gary
Thanks for your ideas. I had opportunity to day to spend time.
Using O/Ps 3,4,5 & 6. Allocating these to M3 all switch using M3/M5.? so it can all work
I tried the ?turn on using (DoOEMButton(233) , this works, as did 235 etc
However the turnof DoOEMButton(234)?Does not turn off., nor did 236.

Totally confused.
All other I/O was disabled and unplugged to elimate confusion.
Is their more commands to go with the enabling DoOEM etc?
I am writing his code as an Mcode using the VB editor
Any ideas

The problem may be with the plugin for your board.

Does the vacuum pump have to actually be hooked up and running for spindle to start?
I have tried toggling vacuum button on mach3.? It lights up and I hear a relay but I haven't ran power for the pump yet.? I wanted to make sure I can get this machine running first.

Re: New cnc

Yes,? here's where I'm at.? I fixed the reversed tool clamping issue with the information provided by others here.? Thank you.

I just manually turned on the spindle and tried to control rpms or turn off thru mach3 but that didnt do anything to the spindle speed.?
I do not know if my spindle is controlled by a relay or something else.? I've read about modbus, etc.? I can take pictures of the electronics and the settings if that helps

If I understand you correctly, in the diagnostic screen you can toggle the spindle button and presumably you will see the LED output diagnostic also toggle and you hear a relay switching.

That sounds like the software is working but the electrical signal is not going through the relay to the VFD.

Thank you for the replies.?
How do I tell how the spindle is controlled?? What should I look for?? ? The VFD says "0.0 "on the display.? ?

I tried toggling spindle on off thru diagnostics and mdi pages.? ? I hear a click of a relay when I manually hit spindle button when I have unchecked the spindle tab in motor outputs but it still doesnt work.?

I have tried to run the spindle without the tool in the spindle and with the tool in the spindle.? Clamped and released.? Neither work.? ??

just a wild guess, but you say the auto tool holder is reversed, is it possible there is an internal interlock that disables the spindle motor while it thinks the tool clamp is open?

Re: Controlling relays via Custom Mcode

not sure if this will work the way you want, but you can turn on and off outputs with something like this

DoOEMButton(233) 'output4 on
DoOEMButton(234) 'output4 off
DoOEMButton(235) 'output5 on
DoOEMButton(236) 'output5 off

Using wizards to run parts

Have you tried this;

Can't say I've got it to work yet, but you might have more luck...

I'm without a full-fledged CAM program, and these parts seem simple enough.

FWIW, I'm running Mach3 on a Compact 5 CNC PC with a much larger chuck.

Suggestions?

Mach 3 reference, not homing

Hi All

In Mach3 Turn;

When one clicks on the button "Set Home X", the axis moves onto the switch, and backs off, setting the reference point.
However, a G28 or G53 simply moves... to that position. It does not re-reference the machine.

I want to turn a number of parts, and wanted to incorporate a G53 in the routine so that if there was ever a lost step, it would not accumulate, and only affect a single part.
But I see that a G28 of G53 would not help, since it simply moves to the zero position, which is of no help.

Is there a way to get the machine to re-reference in Gcode?? Is there a script available?

I think my only other option is to use a G27 command to test zero position, but that halts on error
