i have no idea how to help here, but i can tell you a 7.5V Wall Wart walwart is not what you think it is. it may work fine for what it was designed for, but step outside those parameters and all bets are off. On Tue, Oct 29, 2019 at 3:24 AM Tony Smith <ajsmith1968@...> wrote:

Re: Proximity Sensors and Mach3
开云体育Usually you add the transistor to flip the polarity of the signal, ie, you want active to be high instead (or whatever it is).? That usually means you bought the wrong sensor. ? The 200mA would be referring to how much load the sensor can handle when active, that’s for when you want to switch a relay or something directly from it.? Adding a transistor in that case makes sense if the relay draws more that 200mA, for the logic high/low a Gecko needs it doesn’t matter. ? The Geckos have opto-isolated inputs (IIRC) and they need a bit more current that a straight I/O pin, but probably under 10mA. ? Without knowing what sensor you have, 7.5v sounds a bit low.? Yeah the spec sheet says it’ll run at that, but I’ve found the higher the voltage the better.? Most go up to 36v.? The Gecko should have a 12v output for sensors, run it off that.? Running it from the same power supply tends to make things happier. ? Tony ? ? From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of ronald_41 via Groups.Io

I've watched a video that suggests that I need to run a further wire from the Pin 10 and Pin 11 connections to the Brown V+ Wires of the sensors using a transistor. The size I'm not sure yet though the sensors are rated for a maximum of 300 mA's. So would adding a connection with a 500k resistor make this system work using this wiring order? |

Proximity Sensors and Mach3
Anyone here have experience setting up Proximity Sensors with a Gecko G540?
I can't get mine to run properly. The sensors have 3 wires: Brown V+, Blue V- and Black Sensing. I have the Blue wires running to a Bus Terminal Block for both sensors and another running to the G540 V- of the Main Power Supply. The Brown wires are both running to another Bus Terminal Block. The unit is powered by a 7.5V Wall Wart. I have the Black Sensing wire of the X Axis Home sensor running to Pin 10 of the Gecko and the Y-Axis Black sensing wire is running to Pin 11 on the Gecko and they are all Active Low. As long as my G540 is in E-Stop, Mach 3 registers their presence, yet when I unlock my E-Stop they cease to function. Here is where I need some assistance. |
Mach1mach2CNC transfer process has finished
开云体育 has notified me that the transfer process has completed.
It looks like the messages made it OK. The files did not come over. I will try again, and upload manually from my archive if that does not work. Initially 8872 subscribers were being sent notifications that they were being subscribed to the new group. As expected, some people do not wish to continue being part of the group and declined to be subscribed. This is normal because many people joined on a whim and have moved on to other things but had not previously bothered to unsubscribe. Hopefully this group will continue to thrive. Both Art Fenerty, the original author of? Mach, and Brian Barker the current owner and source for Mach joined this group even before the transfer happened. |
Re: Hello All
Hi Art, All,
Yes, Steves done a great job moving the group over. I've registered the ModIO?group?/g/ModIO/messages?to be migrated over from the Yahoo group. No sure hpw long it will take as the queue is quite long from what I've heard. I've also downloaded everything in case something goes wrong. Cheers, Peter |
Hello All
Hello Everyone:
?Welcome to the new group. I just wanted to send a thx to Steve Stallings for everything he did to swap this group to its new location. This was a very long running group on Yahoo and it looks like it may make it to 20 years of messages if it keeps on going. ( I think its 16 or 17 years now..). ? So Thanks, Steve, and welcome to anyone joining in.. Art -- |
DC powered lathe, machine shop for after Collapse
lawrence rayburn
I need the means in my own machine shop on my farm of operating totally on DC power replenished by Solar Panel Arrays feeding a huge battery bank through
a charge controller.? I have the technical expertise to build the power system with a backup diesel generator to charge the batteries when there is no sun.....but I'm interested in lathe and other equipment recommendations to be able to fashion spindles for standard 3 inch roller bearings to support 10 foot diameter Savonious windmills and post apocalypse transportation.?? Any recommendations?? ol' Lawrence in west Texas??? |

Welcome to MachCNC on 开云体育
Welcome to the new home for Mach1mach2CNC as MachCNC on 开云体育.
Below is the farewell message posted to Yahoo. The time when Yahoo will no longer accept new content for this Yahoo group is 28 October, only two days away. This group is being transerred to a new group on the 开云体育 web site and is already in the transfer queue. This message is being posted because it has become apparent that the transfer will not complete before the deadline for new posts on Yahoo. Indeed it may be several weeks before the transfer completes as the transfer queue has grown dramatically over the past week. An archive has been captured in case something goes wrong, but that only preserves content, not subscriptions. Because of the delay, I have decided to go ahead and announce that the Yahoo group is closed and to enable new subscriptions and posts to the 开云体育 version of this forum. If you wish to participate before 开云体育 sends you a welcome email, you can register manually on the web or via email. Otherwise you should be automatically subscribed to the new forum on 开云体育 once the transfer is complete, and an email will be sent to confirm your subscription or to not subscribe if you do not wish to join. The web link to view messages in chronological order on the new forum is: /g/MachCNC/messages You can also view in a format threaded by topic here: /g/MachCNC/topics If you prefer to interact with the forum via email, the addresses to use are: Post: [email protected] Subscribe: [email protected] Unsubscribe: [email protected] Group Owner: [email protected] Help: [email protected] Once the group is transferred, I will contact previous owners and moderators to ask if they wish to participate in similar roles on the new forum. If the number who accept is insufficient to assure the future of the group, new owners and moderators will be solicited. Hope to see you on the new group. Regards, Steve Stallings www.PMDX.com |
Re: Forum closing - 开云体育 transfer started - update
This post may become a duplicate. My first attempt didn't seem to make it to the Yahoo list. The new group on 开云体育 will be:?? MachCNC You do not need to sign up for the group, that should be automatic when the group is successfully loaded and you will get an email confirming it. Your preferences should be set the same as they were on Yahoo. There will also be a link in the email to opt-out of the subscription on 开云体育. Please do not post to the new group until it is ready. Attempts to do so will be moderated. It may take over a week for everything to happen. The existing moderators for the Yahoo group will be contacted and invited to become moderators on the new list. Regards, Steve Stallings |

Re: Forum closing
Hi Art and all members:
The match forum held a big place in my old heart ,for many years, as well as other groups like CAD CAM DRO, Between these two groups, I have seen over the years a great number of products being developed , like Master5 ,Geckodrive, and others that my frail memory has hidden I the dark basement that is aging memory.. Sure it has been a great time and hope that the still healthy forums will take over were Yahoo has abandoned us in the middle of the journey. Cheers all See you around Enviado desde mi iPad |
Re: Forum closing
According to the Yahoo notice: these groups aren’t closing, merely having a “major function reduction”.
Ok then. All content (files, messages etc) will be deleted, but messages can still be sent. Groups will be made private, and no new members unless the admin adds them. How long that will last is anyone’s guess… Tony From: mach1mach2cnc@... [mailto:mach1mach2cnc@...] Sent: Friday, 18 October 2019 11:48 PM To: mach1mach2cnc@... Very shortly this forum will close, I have requested a full archive file from Yahoo and their building it now. Ive contacted Brian and he will be taking the archive and making whatever he can available on his machsupport forums group. While it was considered to move the group to groups.io, as Brian runs a forum now it didnt make sense to run a separate second one. I think we started in about 2003, so this is one loong running group, Its been a p[leasure being your moderator for all those years, and while I havent been here much lately, I have always watched from a distance and shared my view when needed. Should you find you need my input, jump over to the gearotic site and post a message there and Im happy to answer anything that only the developer might know. Otherwise youll find all this ancient knowledge on Brians forum at www.machsupport.com <> when its all shut down. Thanks to all of you who followed Mach3 on this forum over all those years, its a lot of good memories on my side. Ive met some of my favorite people right here. I wish you all the best in your CNC journeys. :) Art [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] |
