M2 jump some lines

Daniel Maioli Padua

Hi Art & group,

I thought that was a read only problem, but it turns to happen
again...
I have the G-code running on a mill doing a 2D milling (I think all
of you could imagine a 2D milling :)), so this commands work fine
(almost).
Sometimes it runs, others don?t. The problem that I?m getting
is at line N10, when I hit CycleStart (after line N07) nothing
happens, and if i hit it again it goes to line N12 (the program
continues...) and the arc (a circle here) isn?t done.

But I am sure that this lines are corrects, becaude I works
sometimes, and when it fails, I turn M2 off and call it again and
then it works fine again. (maybe G3 or G2 is expecting the initial
position on the last line before this commands???, and there is 3
lines between they, including a program stop...)

good luck on this... regards,

Home/limit switches reset/recovery problem Mach2/RC11

mehmetgogus2003

Hi all,

I want to use home/limit switches to zero machine coordinates. I run
into them causing them to trigger, however I can't move backwards
because the switches remain in triggered state, and Mach2 would not
let me move/jog. Is there a way to override limit switches without
going to "ports&pins"? I find it rather difficult to disable a limit
switch, move the axis a bit and then enable the switch again (times
3 for all axis...)

Thanks for your inputs.

Regards

Mehmet

Rab:

G0 speeds are only calculated from the motor tuning. This is one reason you
must be carefull is using 35 or 45Khz, any touble and you will revert back
to 25Khz and without retuning, your rapids will be off.

Re: stepper stall (to Art)

Levinson Isak

It seems than when there is a direction change inside a single command (e.g.
G02), there is no effect to the path setting (exact stop or CV).

For axample:
G1 x0 y0
G2 x0 y0 i10 j0

In this case there is a stall posebility in 4 points.

Could you please check it up.
Thanks, Isak.

Post Processor for Mach2

Hi all,

This is an easy question for all of you. I just purchase a
Visualmill 4.0 from Bob and I need to know the better post to be
used for Mach2. I can?t see anything generic in the list.

Thanks for your help.

p.d. I have also tried to find this answer in the other forum
archive but failed.

Luis.

Lost Steps - was Not fully Zeroing positions - Mach2

I did'nt install version 11, but did'nt have any problems with
version 10.
I tried changing all G0 commands to G1 and havn't lost any steps
since.
How is the speed of a G0 move calculated ?

On an old 600MHZ PIII, I no longer run at 25KHZ - it has dropped to
23KHZ? If you have a old version 10 I could try and go back -
unfortunately I deleted my copy. On my faster machine 1.6 GHZ,
there
is no noticeable change in frequency but the rapids had to be
dropped by about 10%.
Just food for thought.

Thanks Art

I'll try and have a look at threading later today, see how that goes.

I've done two test files, one has negative X tool offsets. Should be
fun - I've still lots of nylon left though :)

I ran two 2 three hour engraving/milling jobs yesterday without any
problems on V11 - I did pause the second one while I had lunch and
watched the start of the F1 Grand Prix (Give the spindle motor a rest,
it was running hot ;) and noticed no resume button on the program run
screen? Had to go to diagnostics to find it!

There was no loss of steps, or decrease in performance as reported
elsewhere - it ran happily at 13% CPU usage with a 500MHz PII - I'd
even left network card enabled by mistake!

Early days, but mill seems very smooth and reliable.

Just downloaded your new 1024.set, you forgot to remove B&C from
toolpath screen (which needs pause, resume buttons IMO) and resume
needs adding to program run.

I've done my own screens now for lathe - with major changes to
toolpath, made the toolpath display square, job now looks more like it
should - the short, wide screens were distorting things far too much.
I also added the missing pause/resume, jog and MDI.

Can you please put best efforts into lathe display for next release -
screens bear no resemblance to actual job with tool and work offsets
being drawn. Makes checking toolpaths extra difficult and a bit of a
lottery, especially important as there is no "safe" settings!

Test Screen

Art

Hi:

I just uploaded a file called 1024.set as a test screen layout. It is a
simplified test screen of 4 axis and fewer controls now that primary
development is to the point of cleaning up the screens.

Comments welcome...

Hi Art,

the G92.1 box was checked,
thanks for drawing my attention to it.

I've also been losing steps today on rapid moves, anything changed
that could have caused this ?

On the Logic config, there is now a setting for "actions when

Let me know if this solves it,

Todd:

I wish Ithis would happen to me, I have the installer set to "do not
overwrite file", but it seems on some systems to do this, others work fine..

Do you mean if you copy your .xml over the one Mach2 puts in, you STILL have
to go into the config?
Do you have any knowledge as to exactly which config is necessary before it
works?? I think a small bug is at play here somewhere...

Re: SUCCESS! Mach2 / Sound Logic PC@Route Model M1 setup

Robert Campbell

Bob,

I am always impressed when I get a new machine working. I like to see things
move.

I just finished building a new CNC router for a local customer. I was
impressed that it all worked the first time.

I get a lot of satisfaction out of building a machine knowing that I had to
know enough to put it all together piece by piece and make it work.

Thank you to everyone for your thoughtful help on this problem -
there is a small glitch with my LEDs, but everything [that matters]
works great. Today was the first time I operated my system - which
currently consists of one Gecko and one motor - no mechanicals.

Next question, how many times can a grown man watch a stepper motor
operate under computer control - spins in one direction (G0 X20),
speeds up (F160 G1 X50), slows down, stops, reverses direction and
then returns "home" (G0 X0)- all under control of the g-code program
I wrote - aptly named "xfile".

I'm the only one in the household who finds this moderately
entertaining, but I'll let you guys know when I'm bored!

Thanks again for your help getting this up and running.

RC12 overwriting

morgtod

Hi Art,
RC12 is overwriting my xml and layout settings ( I think this
started around RC10 ), I havent checked my macros yet. If I reload
my xml, Mach2 wont let me load a file, the toolpath and gcode windows
stay blank. If I go through and manually reconfigure from a fresh
install, thing work fine. The files get overwritten EVERY time!

Not fully Zeroing positions - Mach2

rainnea

Hi Art,

Unless I close and restart Mach2 after I jog to a zero point on the
workpiece then at the end of cutting a file the reported position is
way off but the tool is where it is supposed to be according to the
last line of G-Code.
ie. if I end a file with
X-603.081 Y7.7763 Z-14.7902
X-603.277 Y3.9381 Z-14.7902
X-603.354 Y0.0573 Z-14.7902
G0 X-603.354 Y0.0573 Z0.2098
G0 X0.0 Y0.0 Z15.0
M5
M30

the tool will be at X0.0 Y0.0 Z15.0 but Mach2 displays say X100 Y50
Z15.0 and the amount it is off seems to correspond to the distance
jogged prior to pressing 'Zero All'

Any ideas,

Rab
