Pick up a copy of Image for Windows (IMF) at www.terabyteunlimited.com. If the computers ARE identical (same MOBO, and CPU), use IMF to clone the old hard drive to the backup hard drive. Once the backup drive is plugged into the backup system, it will operate identically as before. If the computers are NOT identical, then clone the drives as before, replace the original hard drive with the cloned backup drive, boot up, and run Sysprep. (Be sure to check Generalize and Shutdown (not Reboot)). Pull the Sysprepped drive and install it in the backup system and boot up. It will go through it's Windows pre-configuration steps, then be fully operational. If you follow these steps every time you make any major changes to your primary system, you will always be covered in the event it dies. Lou P.S. There are a gazillion programs out there to clone hard drives, but this one is a well-maintained, mature product that has worked well for me for nearly 20 years. -----Original Message-----

I bought an almost exact duplicate computer so i can have a backup. I probably want to install everything (mach4 and not much else) on it to be sure it all works but do not need to switch license until i do actually need to use the new computer. How is that done and can it be done on short notice if my computer dies? -- Best regards, Spencer Chase 67550 Bell Springs Rd. Garberville, CA 95542 Postal service only.
