Re: totally bizzar behavior

i just printed them all. i can read them thoroughly tomorrow as i am not the one driving and the whole day is driving and med appointments. it looks like you did a really good job on mach4. it never occurred to me to try the help button because 99% of the time they are not implemented or lead to online shit which i can not access from the shop. i have wifi disabled.

Hello Spencer,

On the screen under the File Ops tab you will see a button that says Help Docs (this will open up the Mach4 Docs directory). Also if that is off the screen you can also go to Help -> Documentation Folder? in the menus at the top of the screen. This will open up the mach4hobby/Docs directory. You will find all the manuals in every install of Mach4.

Thanks

Brian

Hi Spencer:

Mach4 MDI works differently from Mach3. You need to press the "Cycle Start" button to activate the MDI code (not "Enter" as in Mach3)

Subject: [MachCNC] totally bizzar behavior

mach3?? ESS

i have been trying to get mach4 to work but it is just too confusing to me. i understand that the program is completely rewritten but why not adhere to some conventions of mach3 as to where to find and set stuff.

i can make absolutely no progress with hotkeys and MDI does not work and motor tuning is totally wrong even though it shows correct values.
motion when running a program is nuts i must have active highs and lows swapped but ????

has anyone written a tool for using a working mach 3 configuration to set up mach4 with ESS.

now for the truly bizarre.

i noticed this yesterday and immediately estopped but today i decided to let it run and see what happened.

i am running a program that calls a sub many times more than i would ever use it with a tool change to allow for parts change.

when i started after a tool change the motors went through a totally bizarre song and dance. could not recognize the tune. i was sure it would crash but it just undid the strange movement and then acted as if nothing happened.

anyone ever experience this?

and one more request. i have 3800 parts to make and am getting tired of the occasional hiccups with mach3 and really did want to migrate to
mach4 but i just can't seem to do it. i am taking heavy drugs for stage
4 prostate cancer and i know my mind is fogged. programming that i could do in my sleep is a serious challenge, i get confused really easily. i also ideally want to get the machine working well enough that i can train someone else to use it when i die which could be soon.

I also think that if i get everything ready for others to take over i will live forever :) Seriously at this point my case is eluding the doctors and it might be possible for me to live another 10 years but if i suddenly get too sick to work it will be too late to set this stuff up for others to use.

I REALLY NEED SOMEONE WHO CAN SET UP MACH4 FOR ME. I am sure the company i work for (owned by my sister) will pay a fair rate for help.
