Re: Search: Schematic MFJ-434

Sorry Daniel, I do not know the answer to your question, however, one can assume that the B version is a later version, and as such, may be better (or why make a B version). So, my inclination would be to check it out using the schematic in the manual and if necessary modify to make it a B version.?
Some of the MFJ equipment the only differences between versions are in cosmetics, some better performance due to tighter controls.
It is of course possible that the supply of proms dried up and they changed proms, so that would be the first place to look, you are going to have to compare the schematic and sort of reverse engineer your device.
What I have done in the past in a similar situation is to make a copy of the schematic, and as I trace the actual paths on the device, I use a highlighter on the schematic indicating that the trace or component is physically same. It is time consuming and somewhat arduous, but necessary to confirm they are the same.
Hope that helps

Thanks but this schematic is for the MFJ-434B. Is it the same like the MFJ-434?

Re: Schematic MFJ/Vectronics VEC-1380

Yes, I have been in touch with MFJ. I emailed them twice with no response, and was able to get to them via phone after several tries. The guy in tech support said he would look for one and email it to me, but as yet I have received nothing. When I spoke to the receptionist, she said that they were all at the Orlando Hamfest. I'll keep waiting, but in the meantime I thought I would try other sources.
Thanks for your response.

The only schematic I can find is the downloaded pdf from MFJ or the various manual download sites. All of them are basically unreadable even when I max out the print quality on my printer. A clean scan of the printed manual would be great.
Have you contacted MFJ? They may be able to send you a manual, or may have a
higher-res scan of one you can download.

The manual can be from any of the VEC-13xx series, as they all use the same manual.
