MACS/MITN Statistics for August and September

After making them up, I forgot to send the August stats out so you get 2 for 1 this month.

Numbers are down. No surprise to anyone who's been trying to operate on 75 and 40. It does tend to discourage one after a while and I have to thank and congratulate those who keep on trying. Some days it's nice to know the SWR/PWR meter isn't lying.

What you probably experienced was the recent X-Class solar flare (here¡¯s the timeline graphic):

But the CME is still inbound, I¡¯m sorry to say!? It¡¯s forecast to arrive early tomorrow morning:

It¡¯s a robust CME, but they think it won¡¯t be as wicked as the one in May.? I can only hope that they are correct¡

Funny you should send this!? I was on a MARS net this morning @ 8AM as NCS and part way through the net we had a complete collapse of the 5 MEG band in less than 10 seconds!?

?

Bam! At that point, I could hear only a few stations but it was enough top relay the freq move to 6 MHZ-

?

The training we have done allowed us to recover in 8 minutes and resume operations-? With surprisingly strong signals- Evidently the solar event was shot lived!?

?

Very rarely do we go lower than 5 MEG's for operations- even at night-?
