Re: MACS
Well with bad bands generally and a lack of new NCS'es,it is hard to do any net and even harder giving up the time it takes to listen to white noise and no signals!? Day after day-?

At 11 am, I began asking for a net control for the MACS. No response ? heard. Several times I called for K8DLW. Nothing?
Note: reception on OSSBN was sketchy as well. At 11:03 I called for K8ED, ND8W, K8DLW, WD8USA, and KD8GYI. Silence. Ai.11:05 I shut down.? Pete KD8GYI? |

Fw: [R5AUXC] Request to suspend Winlink exercises on HF during hurricane season
Forwarded message from the Auxcomm coordinator- RE Winlink usage- ----- Forwarded Message ----- From: Max Schneider via groups.io <max.a.schneider@...> To: FEMA Region 5 AUXCOMM Committee <[email protected]>; AUXCOMM Work Group <[email protected]> Cc: Steve Waterman, WL2K <winlink@...>; Karl Arriola <karl.arriola@...> Sent: Tuesday, October 8, 2024 at 03:04:03 PM EDT Subject: [R5AUXC] Request to suspend Winlink exercises on HF during hurricane season
Please distribute widely.
Please be advised that we need to give due consideration to limited bandwidth available on the HF amateur bands, we need to minimize our usage of Winlink in that part of the spectrum during hurricane season. Winlink traffic can be sent via VHF, UHF, or Telnet without as much concern of congestion. This applies to when the storms reach landfall, and especially during the recovery effort which follows. As we¡¯ve seen with Helene, auxiliary communications and amateur radio have played a role in the aftermath of Helene. Milton is promising to bring more devastation across Florida in the next few days.? Thank you for your assistance and support. MACS/MITN Statistics for August and September
After making them up, I forgot to send the August stats out so you get 2 for 1 this month. Numbers are down. No surprise to anyone who's been trying to operate on 75 and 40. It does tend to discourage one after a while and I have to thank and congratulate those who keep on trying. Some days it's nice to know the SWR/PWR meter isn't lying. Mike WB8TQZ
