Repeater Builder RB_STM32_DVM V4 supports M17

Steve Stroh

I just clarified in an email with Scott Zimmerman N3XCC of Repeater Builder, that their version of MMDVM, which they call RB_STM32_DVM V4 (latest) - does support all the same modes as the current MMDVM firmware:

D-Star
DMR
System Fusion
P25
NXDN
M17
POCSAG
AX.25
FM

IE, it’s just another MMDVM device.

The current verbiage on that web page omits
M17
POCSAG
AX.25

But those modes are?supported by the V4 hardware, assuming the version of firmware loaded onto the unit is the latest.

Thus, there is “repeater grade” hardware, and more importantly documentation and support, available to add MMDVM support to many / most Amateur Radio FM repeater systems.

This is really good news for breathing life into tired old, increasingly unused Amateur Radio FM repeaters.

Thanks,

Steve N8GNJ

I've had one running M17 for a couple of years at least.? Of course, back then, I had to build the firmware from source to get M17 support.

I have both the RB board and the BI7JTA V3F4.? The only difference in the firmware that I use is that I enabled the FM LED on the RB board (one comment difference in the source).

Further on this, there's a couple of videos on YouTube, where I demonstrate M17 using M17Client and a FT-818.? M17Client is actually running on the RB_STM32_DVM V4 board.? I'll have to dig up the links when I get time (which isn't today :( ).
