Please talk about the CS800d fcc part 90

Can someone address the status of M17 on this rig, please?

As a dual band with extended UHF receive, Part 90, detachable faceplate,

extra memory, adaptive firmware, etc. it seems cool.

$429. is a little pricey ... I wonder if they sell refurbished returns at a discount?

If used at home could a computer interface replace the features of the CS-BFD?

I like the idea of the CS-BFD - if I were mobile more I'd want one.

The CS-800D hardware appears to be 3 years old - is there a planned update

or is the stock and demand, and the adaptive firmware, such that no new

hardware features (and the cost to manufacture such) is planned?

Thanks,

kd4e

David:

I clicked on the link you provided and the price there was $329.

I doubt this radio is suitable for M17 without a hardware modification. That was the case with the radios that were modified for M17 as part of the OpenRTX Project -?

It’s possible that Connect Systems may create an M17 mobile radio as it did with the CS7000 M17 portable radio, but I’ll guess that such a product is dependent on how successful the CS7000 M17 ultimately is.

Sorry, you are correct, $329. without the programming cables and GPS.

OK re. Connect Systems needing to make hardware mods.

OK re. the CS-7000 M17 handhelds.

I'm not where a handheld is viable (in the country - no near repeaters).

A modified CS-800D Plus Part 90 would work.

Standing by ...

Thanks.

If you mod it, I doubt that it will keep the part 90 cert.? I've had one, it's a decent radio. -Joe

I wasn't planning to mod it.

I'm hoping Connect Systems would release a M17 version - that's modded.

I'll wait.

Thanks.
