CS7000-M17 Questions

Hi,

I received my CS7000 today and it's working fine, but I have?questions. If I get answers here, I'll try and write them up and add them to the wiki.

Not really a CS7000 question, but in my Pi-Star?hotspot configuration there's an M17 Startup Host option. It defaulted to M17-672, which is listed as the?Pi-Star Multi-Reflector (MW0MWZ). It seemed to work fine. I switched to M17-M17, which is closer?to me and also works. Does this setting matter, and how should I choose?

I followed the wiki instructions to set frequencies?and callsign. I found this wiki PR () on how to set a destination, which I set to M17-M17 C. Perhaps someone can merge that PR to make the directions easier to find.

I know about #ECHO. What does #ALL do?

Is there any way to save frequency and destination settings to make it easier to switch between them? I see Banks, Channels and Contacts in the menu, but they don't seem to have anything behind them yet.

Relatedly, is there any CPS software for the radio yet? I see issues in both the OpenRTX () and qdmr () Github projects that seem related.

I know those last two are probably just functionality that hasn't been built yet, but I thought I'd ask in case I missed something.

Thanks!

They are a nice radio, and will improve as the firmware development
continues.

This is where M17Gateway will connect to when it starts up.? Simply
choose the reflector that you want the hotspot to be connected to when
it's turned on.? It's purely a matter of choice.

I followed the wiki instructions to set frequencies?and callsign. I

set a destination, which I set to M17-M17 C. Perhaps someone can merge

#ALL is like a broadcast destination.? If you're on simplex, this is the
best destination to use.? #ALL also works when you want to jump on a
repeater or hotspot that's already linked to something - you will be
heard on the network, but you won't disturb any connection that's
already present.? I leave my destination set to #ALL, unless I want to
specifically link to something or use the parrot.

Not yet, work in progress.

Again, not yet.? OpenRTX is the firmware that's used for M17, so that's
definitely related.

Yes, these aspects of functionality haven't been done yet.? The firmware
is still in alpha.? It's functional, fairly stable, but minor fixes may
be needed and not all functionality has been implemented yet.

Sorry, I'm still not clear on that. My hotspot is connected to M17-M17 C and my destination is set to #ALL. When I transmit, where will my transmission go? When I do that, I don't see my call in the Discord reflector-m17 room, while I do when my destination is?M17-M17 C.

Thanks!

In this case, your traffic will go to M17-M17 C.

Like Tony said, your transmission will go to #ALL, meaning all radios that are listening to the same module you are connected to. If you’re familiar with D-Star reflectors and modules, it’s the same concept.
?
You were also seen on the reflector as well, at least once.

Thanks, Steve! It seems to be working. I’m not sure why I didn’t see myself there last night.
