1.? Is Friday the thirteenth an unlucky day?

No, but there is some confirmation bias that probably supports that myth, same as St. Crispin's day?

2.? What was the most memorable one day of your life?

Grad school graduation day in June,?1985. ?

3.? What was the one most memorable hour of your life?

Getting married.

4.? What was the most memorable one minute of your life?

Skiing over the headwall at Tuckerman Ravine.

5.? Do you suffer from Trump Derangement Syndrome or Harris Derangement Syndrome?

The latter.? I can't imagine how bad things will be if she is elected president, though if Republicans hold onto either house in Congress, (and they will probably gain the Senate but lose the House) it will blunt damaging legislation, but Harris will issue a bunch of goofy executive orders and make a bunch of foolish appointments.

Re: Friday Five September 13

1.? Is Friday the thirteenth an unlucky day?

What is "an unlucky day?" I suspect a 24-hour period with a demonstrably greater volume of undesired happenings? Yet this is all subjective, the very concept of happening?being something built?uniquely by each human mind (what is included in an "happening"? What is excluded?), so before we even get to "unlucky", we are stymied!

No.

2.? What was the most memorable one day of your life?

I remember many, but none very well. I do remember a moment when I was very young, solidly preadolescent, and I badly wanted to be a cowboy?(after a few movies?on the topic!) I suddenly had an epiphany?and decided I was?a cowboy even though it might be awhile?before I get a six-gun and a horse. Or even a hat, as we were very?poor. I felt much better after that realization, at p[eace with my new path.

As an older adult, I have a six-gun but have only ridden a flesh horse twice! Iron horses I have many more miles under my backside, though.

3.? What was the one most memorable hour of your life?

If the next question is about minutes...damn. I peeked ahead.

I cannot really say. I do not much hang onto such. Probably something from boot camp as I have flashes of moments there, like night maneuvers and marching practice?(short inseam.)

4.? What was the most memorable one minute of your life?

This brought a recall of climbing out of a river?gorge. I reached a point maybe ten feet below the top and ran into a smooth clay incline formed from years of water runoff from the road above. Reversing was not an option, I discovered, as the rocks beneath were not easily climbed and my body was tired. I pushed up onto the clay and lay flat, realizing I was doomed?to slide down and out over the end of the ramp like a drop of water. Then I spread my body across the greatest area I could, flat to the ground, and inched?my way to the top because there was no real choice other than probably death. I did not die that day and I surmounted the gorge.

5.? Do you suffer from Trump Derangement Syndrome or Harris Derangement Syndrome?

Politics is continuing to annoy me. My behaviors do not, in my opinion, closely resemble either of our wanna be fearless leaders'. I really think we should rethink the criteria for presidential?candidates and consider a few new stipulations. Having said that, I would not personally take the job and so perhaps this is one of those positions needing to make the best out of the available volunteer labor pool.

No - as much of a nuisance they are - they are a vital part of the entire ecosystem - the fact that we don't acknowledge there importance is on us not them.

1. Will college campus protests effect the presidential election?

I don't expect them to, but they could go viral again and make a difference.

2.? Does the killing of the hostage in Gaza effect you views on that situation?

It reinforces how ruthless Hamas can be, and I'm assuming that the IDF is telling the truth, but Netanyahu has taken this situation too far, and his notion that a military victory over Hamas is possible and that a military victory will bring peace is absurd.? Israel has another Vietnam on its doorstep, and only a political solution will bring peace to the area.

3. Is the constitution a danger to the people?

No.

4.? Can yearbook photos be used as a gauge of social trends?

Of course.? All I have to do is look at my 1972 high school yearbook and subsequent college yearbooks to verify that.

5.? Should mosquitos be eliminated from the earth?

I don't see any purpose to mosquitos, ticks. tapeworms, or other parasites, but I doubt if we can ever eliminate them from the earth.

Devaluation of the US dollar against other currencies, brought on by federal overspending, causing a massive transfer of wealth from the dollar to property and other types of assets as the Fed sends interest rates back up to double digits (beyond their peak of 20% in 1980), in a futile attempt to combat inflation, while the Harris administration prints even more money to keep unemployment from rising to over 25% (as it was in 1932, two years after FDR was elected). ?

Harris probably really believes her campaign claims that her administration ‘beat inflation,’ since she hasn’t ever mentioned that inflation was really controlled by the Fed raising interest rates to the highest level in decades to keep inflation from breaking loose (as it almost did in the UK). The Biden administration has no control over the Fed, and has been spending like mad, increasing the money supply, while the Fed tries to keep the money supply contained. ?

If Harris gets a Democratic majority in Congress and doles out money to the middle class (as she is promising, to buy votes from the economically illiterate), the resulting inflated money supply will kick in just as the multi-trillion Bidenomic spending bills from 2020 kick in, and the combined overspending will send US inflation through the roof while other countries are controlling their spending, sending the US dollar sharply downward.?
