Up until this year it was a misdemeanor.? So an accountant entered blackmail payments to a prostitute under an ambiguous description, and the state went after the guy being blackmailed.

The predicted outcome of this exercise in the use of naked power to openly persecute a political opponent may be helpful in opening to eyes of a great many Americans to the fact that this country can no longer be said to have universal moral standards.? That's long been clear, but I imagine that most people by far simply don't normally think about such things.
