Hi Magnus,? I can't comment on any difference between G1 and G2, but here are other comments.? You must always park your mount...that's the only way the Gemini knows the worm rotation angle. ( The same is true for other mounts like the older Orion Atlas. Some mounts now have permanent PEC (PPEC)...with a detector for the worm position. ?) The SRAM stores the last worm rotation index, so even if you lose DC power, or you move the RA by hand, there is a good chance to still have the Gemini know the PEC to apply. ? If you turn the worm by hand, that info is incorrect.? Or if you switch Gemini units,...there is no way for the new one to know that angular location (if you have multiple Gemini units....! ) The Gemini can record the corrections generated by an autoguider camera. ? The manual says you must use the hand controller but this is not correct... just point to a star near the meridian/equator, then turn on, say, ?PHD2 autoguiding, and then turn on the Gemini to record PEC.? It should work well. ? There are options to add and average additional runs, to smooth out any glitches.? When you do that, the Gemini will wait until the start of the next worm cycle. ? When done, the Gemini has the capability to use its PEC, but you must tell it to do so...it defaults to "PEC OFF".? The Gemini.net applet has a checkbox to automatically tell Gemini to use PEC.
