I use a UPS in my observatory for all electronics components, to protect against noisy power. In addition the battery backups keep the system running during short outages, if they occur. -- Doug Bock

Hi Greg, The outer edge of the bearing does not rotate in the bearing block, so it does not have to be polished evenly all around. It only needs to be reduced in OD sufficiently to slide up and down
