Re: Pier Adapter vs. Pier Extension
Just so I'm clear, the three bolts from the top of the base/pier adapter hold the extension in place? Thanks, Joel

Re: G11G DEC Stall
I've seen worse. "Oh look, I can see its brains." Some politely smoke, others go Krakatoa! I continue to be amazed at how little solder is needed to mount a, say 8 x8 mm IC. I find if I cut factory

Re: Purchasing a G11 with last version of the Gemini-1 controller
In the law we call that "forum shopping." It's considered poor sportsmanship, unless it's your case.

Re: 16" SCT on a G11T?
Good points. The C11 was being weighed for shipment to Moldova, so no, it wasn't loaded with accessories.

Wanted in UK: Losmandy TItan or HGM-200
Is anyone in the UK wanting to unload a Titan (or even an HGM-200)? If so, I'm interested. I will do a swap for a G11 plus whatever if you're down-sizing. Cheers, David Please click here to support

Pier Adapter vs. Pier Extension
I am getting ready to setup my permanent (SkyShed) pier and I am a little confused by the Losmandy pier adapters / extensions. I have the G11G HD mount with a 4" pier adapter. Using my SVX102T with

Re: Tripod leg carrier
Ken and the Group, That¡¯s a great idea. ?I never considered using a soft case to carry the legs. ?In fact, I own a much larger version of the Orion soft case you referenced to carry a Meade AR-5

Re: Tripod leg carrier
I use one of these but they may not be available anymore - https://www.amazon.com/Orion-15146-48-5x9-5x10-5-Inches-Telescope/dp/B0000XMTPG I also use one of these to transport the OTA and mount tripod

Tripod leg carrier
Greetings to the group, Has anyone considered building a carrier or caddy to organize and transport Losmandy tripod legs? This might seem trivial, but I'm just looking for the most efficient way to

Re: G11G DEC Stall
I've used a hot air gun (set to the lowest temperature and high velocity) to try to blow the stuff from under the chip, but I suppose some still remained. An ultrasonic cleaner might be a better

I never worked on Gemini units, but from my experience I agree with not using solder paste without a stencil. Trying it without stencil only needs much more time applying the paste and then for

Re: G11G DEC Stall
I¡¯m sure it was just my amateur skills, but all solder paste helped me do is bridge all the pins together in one shot ;) I¡¯m sure a proper stencil would¡¯ve helped, but drag soldering worked

Re: G11G DEC Stall
I had been using reflow techniques with a rework station which works perfectly on high density packages. Solder paste works very well where you need to set up many pads for a single device. -- Chip

Re: G11G DEC Stall
Have to say, drag soldering is an amazingly effective technique. The few SMD chips I replaced previously were always a struggle, and I tried solder paste and soldering individual pins. Drag soldering

Re: G11G DEC Stall
It¡¯s actually not *that* hard using a drag soldering tip (the ones that have a concave end to hold some solder). I¡¯ve done it myself a few times, and only needed to do a bit of cleanup with solder

I draw the line at 20-30 pin packages. Don't even want to think about replacing a 128 pin ARM chip :)
