Re: Not using hand controller
Thanks Brian
I suppose that¡¯s my problem - I need to warm start in Home position as I thought warm start needed to be done in CWD. Also i have tried leaving the power on but invariably when I come back I¡¯ll see ¡°dec stall ¡° because somehow she turned on and is against the ceiling ?so have been worried about leaving Gemini on in parked position ?unattended. I¡¯ll need to experiment with Power left on ?with the clutches loosened up thanks again Ron |
Re: Not using hand controller
Hi Ron Couple thoughts: if you have a permanent setup, you might consider just leaving the Gemini on. I do that here (i have at least 2 setups running all the time) which makes night-to-night setup much easier If you have a custom home position you park in, when you power up again you need to warm start. warm restart (and cold start) assumes your mount is in CWD position On Fri, Sep 2, 2022 at 10:52 AM Ron via <Rappnron=[email protected]> wrote: After viewing the last Losmandy Press YouTube ?i have been ?Working on total computer control and not using the hand controller. Not using hand controller
After viewing the last Losmandy Press YouTube ?i have been ?Working on total computer control and not using the hand controller. But I¡¯m having problems with start up
Lucky me I have a permanent set up so?looking for guidance of the correct sequence of how to restart from Home Position. ?I begin by?powering everything on, I connect Gemini.net ,then click Setup, and OK in the main Gemini settings menu box, then function button, object, then ?go. However the initial go to is always way off and HC has ¡°GPS coordinates not updated ¡°. Since I don¡¯t know how to correctly restart in Gemini.net and because the initial go to is off I will move to CWD and then restart using the HC. Then my first go to is always very close from the warm restart. additionally when I am done I¡¯ll park at home position which is always right on. So my problem is getting the initial start up ?sequence correct in order to get the gemini.net generated initial go correct? So looking?for guidance Of sequence of how to restart in the menu options Thanks Ron |

Re: g11 control box
Bob H. here well the journey at SVAS to get the G11 up and running continues, most recent problem getting hand controller (hc) to function.? Older cable works used another HC, and all works well. Older HC continues to be non-responsive to touch input, compared new vs the older HC, and it appears there is a looseness between the ??? plastic and the underlying visual screen. Opened the HC and examined the ribbon to the touch sensitive plastic which is intact. It became clear that the interface between the 2 surfaces do not seem to be cohesive, i.e., the upper touch surface is loose when compared with the newer HC. IS THIS FATAL NON-REPAIRABLE DEFECT or is a solution available (older HC was exposed to environment for at least 3 yrs.) MY thought is to use a non-reactive substance like a mineral oil to cause adherence between the 2 surfaces in an attempt to revive the response of the touch sensitive plastic to the underlying surface.? Need input from members as to a solution (will not try my solution prior to any input from members) IF this problem with the old HC is fatal, then question becomes IS there a secondary/used market for HC that can be used to keep overall costs down. Respectfully submitted Bob H.

As Brian pointed out this may be a hardware issue although Win11 and an 11th Generation Intel CPU really doesn't like the QHY driver. ------------------------ Jim W Phoenix, AZ. USA Losmandy G11G, NINA 2.0 Beta / ASTAP, ASI2600MC Pro, Sky-Watcher Scopes |
Re: iPolar Running on Win11?
this 'keep video running' was a fix for certain polemaster installations far before windows 11 I have used polemaster without problems on windows 10 and windows 11.? So it may be tied to specific hardware, graphic processor, etc.? I have not used the actual PoleMaster app under widows 11 yet on the new laptop so I do not know if the issue is still present in Win11.? -- Chip Louie Chief Daydreamer Imagination Hardware? ? ?Astropheric Weather Forecast - South Pasadena, CA? |
Re: iPolar Running on Win11?
This is hilarious! First, this was a known issue with the PoleMaster losing or sleeping the multimedia data stream in Windows after something timed out between the driver and Windows. The creative solution was to keep a video stream open while using the PoleMaster to avoid losing the connection to the PoleMaster. This was a kludge that worked and I do not think it was ever fully resolved as the problem was at least partially a Windows problem.?
Next while MP3 is an almost universal audio file format you can store video in MP3 format with certain software. Don't ask me why you would want to do it but it does exist. But I think there was a misunderstanding by someone here as to the whole thing. Tech support probably wanted the user to try streaming video in the background to overcome the above mentioned loss of connection and freezing of the alignment video data stream.?? -- Chip Louie Chief Daydreamer Imagination Hardware? ? ?Astropheric Weather Forecast - South Pasadena, CA? |

During the last 3hr imaging run it looks like I averaged around 0.6 arcsec total rms. During this time the object dropped below 30 degrees, so a lot of air mass, sitalation, etc. My PE has also climbed a bit, so I will be servicing my Ra worm drive. Fantastic.? You could not imagine such structures.? Looks like a galactic shrimp or lobster feeding on an Iris..?? You certainly have a sharp telescope and great performing mount to getvsuch images.?? Re: need to Replace hand control cord
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýI'll go to Digi-Key and look through their catalog.? You want a
"reverse" cable (which means it has the conductors in the same
order at both ends) rather than a conventional one, which has them
the opposite way at one end than the other. |
Re: need to Replace hand control cord
Yes Gemini 2 six pin cord. Looks like that would work thank you Michael ?
but what type of cord is it ? Is it a ?RJ11, RJ12, RJ14, or RJ25 ??this 10 ft looks essentially the same as The coiled Losmandy cord. Looking for a longer uncoiled straight cord 15 foot long 6 pin cord of what type? Ron |
