Re: New G11G and bad guiding first night: Need advice for gathering data tonight.
One trick that has always served me well is, after the entire setup is assembled, i.e. all the weight is there, I pick up each leg individually, and retighten everything.. Specifically, I use a Meade

Re: More ideas for spring loaded worm issues.
I have never seen the worm jump over the ring gear teeth while the spring force on my system is not very high.? Both GuitsBoy and I use OnStep, which has a very gradual acceleration from tracking to

Re: New G11G and bad guiding first night: Need advice for gathering data tonight.
Was on gravel, I try to smooth it out, so I think maybe a leg shifted a tad while slewing to DEC 0. When I redid it, I didn't change a thing and it stayed.

Re: G11 second hand trial - worth it?
You don't mention how much?? That's a pretty impressive mount to my untrained eye.. And I bought mine second hand and in person and all I did was make sure it moved in all four directions and sounded

Re: A report on G11T Optimization efforts
Herman, I'm interested in updating my G11G to G11T because of the weight of the instruments. As I'm not knowledgeable enough to perform all these modifications, what is the improvement of the G11T

David, Some "gotchas" to watch for: 1. After you polar align, retighten the AZ thumbscrews. If you find this affects your PA, I suggest you add some Belleville vsoring washers to your AZ bolts to keep

PEMPro and Guiding with my GM8
I have a couple of questions, not sure if they are related, but I thought I should post them together. All of this basically concerns improving my guiding, particularly in RA. Right now I get decent

Well I found some time to work on this,? I wake up for work at 3:30AM.? 2 hours of sleep sucks. I'm going to try again this week for better logs,? I will post this with info.

Re: More looking at brass reactions to CRC MolyD lube
Keith, et al, Good question about the net effect of CRC lube. I felt it as smooth, and better than with Super lube. I bought a cartridge of Shell 33 grease that the AP group apparently recommended,

G11 second hand trial - worth it?
Hello everyone, I'm new to this group and to astrophotography as well. I'm considering bying a 10 year old second hand G11 GLT equipped with Ovision worms, spacer and Gemini 2 for my observatory. It
Re: More ideas for spring loaded worm issues.
Thanks Michael. It may be worth testing by simply adding a tiny bit of gap with the "back off" screw, and tightening down the blocks, that should effectively get be back to where I was before the

Re: More looking at brass reactions to CRC MolyD lube
Thanks Michael - I know what you mean about the chatter, when the worm is "letting down" weight, and as you said, makes a good argument for the weighted string trick or east heavy bias.?? I'm glad

Re: More ideas for spring loaded worm issues.
Tony, One more set of ideas for you to consider and try. The Losmandy spring loaded worm uses a very heavy spring. If that spring is pushing the worm in to the ring gear, it will cause high friction

Re: More looking at brass reactions to CRC MolyD lube
Hi Tony, When I started the improvements to the G11T Titan RA, the ring gear was almost dry, and there was some slight lube balled up on the ring gear edge where the worm had pushed it away. Here is
