I did find a battery that puts out 16 volts. It powers the Dec through the range of motion without warning messages, but it still gets quite noisy.
This was without a load. I haven't tried the higher voltage battery with the RA yet.?
I suppose I did get the assumption that the mount needed adjustment, because the motors stalled out the?first
time I tried using the mount.?
I have never heard a mount actually, ?squeal, before, but I have repaired cars and rebuilt motorcyles, so I am familiar with mechanical
sounds and squealing?usually precedes something breaking or stopping. The mount seems to work otherwise. I would like to know
if there is supposed to be some play in the Dec and RA with Losmandy mounts. My CGX-L mount has none, so I am puzzled about that. I am sure we can figure this out. Have a

I mentioned this previously, you need a higher voltage power source than 12v, especially?for the G11T. 15-18v is what works best. In the interim you can also try turning down the slew speed and see if that impacts the messages. if it does, it definitely
is a power source issue.?
Improper balance can also potentially cause that warning.??
Your mount arrived and was hand-tuned by Scott personally. We really recommend (and continue to recommend) that you do not make any adjustments unless instructed by Losmandy, especially for a brand new mount.

adjustments. The motors no longer seize but now I have play in both axis’. I have gone back several times to get rid of the play but when I do the motors will start to get noisy
less than 90 degrees from home position and the heavy load warning appears. When I slew It back to center the motors get quieter again and all is good. I have gone back and
forth several times trying to get rid of play and stalling at the same time without much success. It seems like the worm gear is offset or not round on both Dec and RA. Anybody
have a few wonderful ideas to try? Is there supposed to be some play in Dec and RA?

Hi Jeff,
A long way off, but when I got my GM811G HD, I mounted the motors as instructed.
The Dec axis was a bit loud. So I did the described 1/4 turn loosen and tried adjusting the motor.
It got quieter. Not silent, but quieter.
The square cut gears used in these mount (Also referred to as Bull Gears, because of how strong the design has been in industry) are know for being a bit noisy.
Long I have heard of complaints by some about mount noise. All types of mounts, actually. Neither of my mounts have ever been silent, and not would I expect them to be.
They are machines and when running at high speed, I would expect them to be noisy to some extent.
Mine has gotten quieter as it has run in.
Scott and Brian advised me when I picked mine up, "Don't mess with it. Just use it." Sage advice.

I use a 12v LifPo4 battery plus voltage pump made by our very own Michael Herman, that boost the voltage to I think 17.3 volts to help prevent motor stalls. It works very well and it also has a? ammeter that you can use to dial in the ballance
better. Just Email Michael at mherman346@....

I hadn't touched the mount other than setting it up and trying it out when the motors were stalling. I also tried the mount with no telescope and no counter weights with the same result. It
works fine as long as I have some play in the Dec and RA. I don't know if that is the way it is supposed to be. If it is then no worries. I am also sure I can find a power source with more voltage.?I
have done enough wrenching in my life to recognize that mechanical squealing and stalling motor sounds are not good things to hear. I am really not trying to give you guys a hard time.?I
am just trying to get the mount to work at least as well as my CGX-L mount. I just thought that would be an easy thing to accomplish with this new mount. It is definitely sturdier than my Celestron mount.?

When I go to and click on mounts, the G11S is not shown.? How would anybody find that page that you linked?
It's good news that the system is still available!? I recommend putting it up on the same page as the rest so potential customers can find it.? I think there is a market for the G11S (just read the CN threads, and in this thread the opinion of the OP).

It's good news that the system is still available!? I recommend putting it up on the same page as the rest so potential customers can find it.? I think there is a market for the G11S (just read the CN threads, and in this thread the opinion of the OP).

Ah very good!? That's a nice looking page, and the G11S is listed indeed.? Nice. I don't know why I missed it, maybe because I subconsciously started ignoring large advertisement banners.
